Have you ever gotten flak from someone online for using a certain item or weapon during a game? I was recently screamed at during a Halo 3 game for picking up a sniper rifle, and a guy on my team bleated that I was an effing cheater. Also, does anyone here have an online statute on internet weapons?

As always, thank you for your time and posts.

I go by one rule; if the game lets you do it, it's not cheating. So when people have a cry, I just mute them.

All the time on pretty much every game.

Its just people bitching, so I usually ignore it. Although sometimes it can be amusing when they use the same weapon to try and take you down, but you still kill them and they get pissed all to hell.

What's so bad about people using sniper rifles during a game of Halo? They're there, they're not exactly cheap as a single missed shot can end up killing you and they have a long respawn timer.
People often cry out over absolutely nothing in online games, mostly so when they can't win. I got all my negative "unsporting" votes by winning one on one matches in online games, using a defensive character.

The only thing I can somewhat agree with the hatred of is the "noobtube" in CoD4:MW. Mostly so because I generally get killed by the users shortly after having killed them.
On the other hand, people have yelled at me a few times for killing them with exploding cars. I quite love doing that.

I don't have a moral code as such, 1v1 tend to be the games I play online mostly now.
The only thing I do is I will not resort to cheap tactics unless someone does them to me first.

Some guy had a massive ***** at me on Gears of War once.

Someone uses the sniper, they get called sniper whore, or active reload whore because of the one shot active reload that knocks you down. Use a lancer, get called a lancer whore. Use a shotgun, get called a shotgun whore etc etc.

There was no pleasing this guy at all so after briefly arguing with him I just got off the Xbox.

In MW2, I was yelled at for using Tar Bling with Heartbeat sensor and thermal while using the blast shield. It was my way to counter the Danger Close and Commando perks. My thing is don't use annoying weapons because it will come back full circle.

Since I mostly played Unreal Tournament or Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, I've never had an issue with people bitching about weapons.

There is no cheap weapon in R6V2 (Except maybe C4). I've been killed by everything in the game, though I think the most embarrassing is the silenced Type 05... But yeah.

And then, Unreal Tournament... Even the Redeemer isn't cheap. Mostly 'cause it's usually a ***** to get, can be canceled with a good shot, and has a limited blast range... -shrug-

Staunch adherence to that rule can lead to activity that people consider cheating. Look it MW2 for example.

That said, when it comes to weapon selection I'm in the same boat. I mean, I know I'm bad at Halo 3: of COURSE I'll use the rocket launcher to overcome that.

I have no online code, no. I still wouldn't use the grenade launcher in COD (which is ridiculously underpowered compared to a real one), not from any moral sense, just because I like a challenge.
Fixed that for you. Grenade launchers (and explosions in general) in CoD have a much shorter radius in which they'll do damage than they would in real life, treating them as if they depended solely on blast overpressure and not at all on shrapnel. For example, the simple frag grenade in CoD4 would have an effective casualty radius of 15 meters and a fatality radius of 5 meters. Compare that to what you actually see, which is a fatality radius of about 2 meters and a casualty (damage) radius of about 3.

OT: Nope. If it's in the game, its use is legit. It may be irritating, but I don't think it's worth complaining about. Now, if I'm playing, say, Tekken 5 with my friend and he picks Hwoarang and only Hwoarang while I'm trying out different characters and he constantly turtles, yeah, I might complain. I guess it's less a dislike of certain weapons and more a dislike of certain tactics.

I don't play MW2 because people ***** too much. It seemed whenever I got any sort of kill I had people in my ear calling hacks and labelling me a cheater. Which was kinda funny as I was getting killed about 4 time for every kill I made.
This was on my mates xbox live account, after I played it I said "fuck this, no game is worth that amount of bitching".

I like to be able to talk to people whilst playing.

My only code is 'make the enemy's life as miserable as you can'.

Which means you don't go for the kill AND JUST THE KILL. I flashbang the shit out of everyone in MW2, for example, that means I mostly get assists, but I don't give a crap wether I get the kill or the assist.

Also, every weapon that can be used should be used.

I'm currently using a grenade launcher as my main weapon, but only to unlock the barrel-mounted shotgun. It is cheap, but I think hacking and camping is much worse. Especially since most people who use cheap weapons are bad at the game. Anyway, most of the time it's a case of who spots the other person first.

I think this is the main reason why people started quitting Modern Warfare when the glitches started to come out. Just because it's in the game, doesn't mean it's intended. When the developers come out and tell you bluntly that "you use this and we'll ban you from Live", I'm pretty sure that's a good indication that it's cheating.

That being said, I tend to agree with using any weapon in the game, so long as it doesn't clash with my above statement. Glitches are cheating, I think we can all agree on that, but using a weapon you've earned is a right you get (whether through pre-order -or- gameplay). To give an example, the "noobtube" in MW2 is probably one of the most frustrating weapons for me... when I use it! The close-quarters nature of the game tends to make me always fire the blasted thing within safety range, so either I have to hit them square in the face or it's a dud shot. Seeing at it's a grenade launcher, I don't tend to aim and that just means I'm an easy kill as it reloads. Even if I switch guns I'm usually dead before I can react. Where as with the actual assault rifle that grenade launcher is mounted to I can easily get up in someone's face and not have to worry too much, as after my first shot, I still have around 30+ more rounds to go through, even if I miss.

My thoughts exactly. I still can't believe that Treyarch haven't nerfed the MP40 in WaW.

You sound like a guy i know... Although i am guessing you don't grow your hair until it constricts your ability to think.
