Im wondering just how many people out there in the Escapist hate those damn ads as much as i do. You know the ones like shoot 5 iPhones to win an iPhone and the like. Now i dont hate them because I click them or anything it is the fact that they make noise is what annoys me. My most hated one is "Beat the Celeb" were you have to click a button to beat up a celebrity (at time of typing the celeb was Christian Bale)

Now i dont know about you (hence the reason I made this thread) but these damn ads really annoy me. And who in their right mind clicks on those ads anyway?

I just ignore them. Although, the talking ones are obnoxious if I'm trying to listen to music or something on the website. If you use Firefox you could always get the AdBlocker add-on thing. Makes them all go away.

I hate the noisy ones, especially when you want to play a flash game or watch a video. Have to restart all over again.

This strip has a point for clicking the ads though.

The only reason I use Firefox on my Mac is to block those things with Add Blocker Pro.

Chrome on my laptop also seems to stop most if not all pop ups.

I hate those ads. Also the ones that come up that look like a Windows XP window... Just no.

I hate them as well. Funny story about that a girl in my school (IQ -73 not joking) clicked on one of them when it popped up on the moniter. My schools antivirius was doing updates at the time so disabled. She downloaded a virius on to my schools network and my schools two IT guys (the teach practical subjects so know how to use power tools) had to leave the room before they killed her they were that angry.

The firefox addon NoScript also helps a lot too, bit annoying at first but once you configure the web sites you frequent it works excellently.

EGM did an article once that said you can in fact get the free stuff that those ads offer with no problems as long as you pay attention and keep up.
