I'm just shitting myself with excitement for Mass Effect 2. I've been reading the wiki pages, replaying the first game, watching the IGN videos in anticipation of the this game. So let's have it Mass Effect fans; talk plot, fantasy science, characters, tactics, etc.

Having read the history and science of the Mass Effect world over the last few weeks, I've found it very interesting how the original writes created the mass effect field idea loosely based on actual theoretical science; ie. dark matter and dark energy. How they took this fantasy science and then created a universe around it just blows me in the best way.

Also, I'm itching to understand the true motives behind the Reapers and if the Protheans will play a continued role in the story arc.

I'm not excited about it to be honest. I still haven't beaten Dragon Age: Origins, and that has satisfied my craving for a lengthy RPG. Though odds are reviews of the game will change my mind and make me purchase it anyways.

It's not a fantasy science... it's a real science. Or so they say anyways.

I assume Dark Matter is made from old bananas that when mashed release a quantum energy allowing otherwise bullshit to happen.

And all I want to know is this: Did I kill my Shepard yet? I'm banking on yes.

This is hardly a discussion, but I'll play ball.

I'm not going to pick up Mass Effect 2 the instant it comes out, but I'll definitely pick it up sometime down the road. I liked the first one and I'm praying for more of the same. Lets hope FOX News finds something to whine about that isn't actually in the game. I laughed pretty hard at that news report on the "hardcore interactive sex scene" in the first one.

Eh...Mass Effect 1 was a real disappointment to me.

I wanted it to be good. I gave it a chance, but I just couldn't get into it

I still haven't beaten Dragon Age yet. Plus, Bayonetta and Darksiders are both coming out tomorrow and those are gonna be so awesome, they'll rape you a thousand times and you'll be begging for more.

I'm just as excited, but I'm avoiding reading up on it too much. Every time I look at a message board or read an article, someone is blowing what could be a really awesome plot element, i.e.

That Shepard is working with Cerberus, that you have a choice on whether or not Shepard dies, etc.

Granted, it may not be all that surprising, but I would just rather not have anything else spoiled.

not even played ME1.

Too boring. =]
That is sometimes the thing with Bioware games, ALOT of dialogue. Sometimes I just want to play the real game, the one they spent all that money making look great not the conversation game which gets very drawn out at some points. I'm still stoked about this game though, NWN2 turned me off of Bioware because the combat was total shit but after a very critical play though of Dragon Age I know these guys can deliver a great video game.

Oh, right, there're only three weeks left, aren't there? Great--here's hoping I can beat Dragon Age by then, because there's no telling when I'll get back to it if I don't.

Hey, I just had a thought regarding Mass Effect, and Bioware games in general: does anyone else kind of wish that Shepard/the Warden/etc. had established full names? You know, so that you would never have to wonder why your characters' friends and relatives and love interests--people with whom he/she should be on a first-name basis--never actually refer to him/her by name? That's always bugged me a bit. I mean, if we're always going to play a character named "Shepard," then we might as well play a character named "John Shepard," or "Jane," or whatever...

I'm very over excited about it too.

I made this same thread a few days ago and got on peoples' nerves by implying it could be best game of the generation:

Are we really going to have to have an over abundance like we did with Mw2?
Very likely. I give you my word I'll be too busy playing it to make lots of threads.

I think I've never anticipated a game as much as Mass Effect 2. I'm spending the majority of my time on ME2 forums, torturing myself with hype.

I'm going to be spazzing over the game for a very long time, and probably (for about a week), the only word I'll be able to say is "turians"
I'm just replaying it for the fourth time and just did the part on Noveria where SHephard needs to give the AI program a password... it gets funnier every time I see it...
