Using the rather effective distraction crated by Claude, JR was able to make his way into the German line with little fuss. Bolts channelled through his Browning flashed with lethal precision, their limited noise muffled by the desperate fire of the soldiers trying to stop the stone man.
Blind-siding a machine gun position and killing the two man crew, JR was about to turn the weapon on a cluster of muzzle-flashes across from his position, when he got hit from behind with a tackle. The two men grappled, and tore at each other amongst the mud and debris. JR tried to go for his pistol, but the German saw him, and with a solid blow to the temple, made him drop the gun.
Struggling to their feet, the fighters circled each other, waiting for the other to make the first move. With a bellow of pure rage the German charged JR, hoping to pin him to the sand bags beside the MG, and crush the life out of him. Dodging the wild rush, JR tripped over one of the dead gun crew, and was back on the ground. Seeing the soldier slam into the berm, momentarily stunned, he did the only thing he could. He raised his hand and unleashed an energy blast at his target. In an instant, the top half of the German soldier, several sand bags, and most of the backend of the MG 34, vanished in a brilliant golden flash.
