I got this game three days ago, and have very mixed opinions. I thought I'd like it because it would be fun, different and emphasise team work as opposed to lone wolfing common in other games. I actually like it because it's one of the few games that allows Medic and Engineer classes to actually stand a chance against Soldier classes in a firefight, and weirdly compelling. It's believable and made me think more than most games. I sympathised with both sides. Both have genuine grievances and made me sympathise. What I don't like about it is that the gameplay isn't very smooth (but the guns sound and "feel" great) it gets a bit repetitive and some of the maps are confusing and difficult to navigate.
What did you guys/girls think?

It's terrible. The short version is that it's a shitty version of TF2.

Engineers are overpowered as hell, operatives are next to useless, the maps are boring and don't fully utilise the whole SMART thing they were so eager to show off.

All the guns feel the same, the online is terribly laggy, the majority of the time you're against bots and their A.I. is terrible.

The customisation is also rather sparse.

Overall, for a shooter with a dev team behind it that is renowned for its FPS pedigree, it's a massive failure.

It's alright. I've played it a couple times, but I wouldn't say that the balancing is the main issue, it's the gameplay itself.

The reason the game falls short for me, is because it fails to fulfill itself as an FPS. The shooting element in the game just isn't that much fun. Guns are very weak, and the default character is way too slow.

Maybe I should try playing the PC version, but the controls on the XBOX version were also pretty lousy (although you could remap them, as I did)

Edit: I disagree with OP in that the guns "felt" terrible

Brink is a very strange game. It's fun, but only in Co-op. Single-player gets tedious VERY quickly. It's plagued by terrible AI ( On the most part ) and also gets unbelievably repetitive unless you are playing against actual people.

It's a good game, but you NEED to have other people playing with you to enjoy it properly.

That's my two pennies for what it's worth.

It's a nothing game.

The interface is a mess, the defenders almost always win and all the classes feel the same.

The trailers made it look like everything I've ever wanted in a game.
Couldn't bear Ten minutes of it when I played it at a friends place.

I actually like it quite a bit. *shrug* Stopped playing it after awhile though, didn't hold my interest.

played it Co-op with a friend (it was free on steam), it was ok in the beginning, but became tedious after 1-2 hours.

Personally, i'd stick to TF2

I love the SMART move system, more game should have this. I'm always running around like a parkour freak in other FPS anyway, when applicable, and this system makes it so easy and fun.
I LOVE the character customization, and the classes work well, for the most part.
The bad stuff is the story for one. The world itself is a great concept with plenty of promise, but it's presented horribly.
Like other hybrid FPS/RPGs (Fallout 3), the guns aren't supposed to be powerful. For instance, the grenades do minimum damage and are mainly for knocking down other players, (which is actually genius in design). But they should at least feel powerful, and with a few exceptions, they don't. At least they worked properly, but personally, I think they are lacking.
It's a good game that somehow has fucked up its own potential.

Failed Potential, I found it fun but once i had played all the maps both way i found it hard to go back, also the game was poorly optimised. I liked the class based team work, and any group of people working together was almost impossible to beat which is good, when you take into fact that most on-line games can be carried by one really good player.
