I literally just downloaded firefox 4 and... I don't like it. It looks like they are trying to compete with the Chrome aesthetic and everytime I have to relearn the location of a button on new software like the refresh button and the favorites bar I get grumpy.

Favorites bar? Is that one of the things that uses screen real-estate which I remove first thing when installing a new copy?

Installed it this morning. It's a lot faster, it works the same way and I don't even remember what the visual differences are. The URL bar can be moved back to the top like god intended, though you have to use a plugin to set minimum tab width now.

It's really customizable. I put all the buttons back to where they were before the update, and now it just looks more futuristic and highly-advanced. Plus knowing Firefox it's probably even MORE fast and secure.

Yeah I was pretty pissed to find that all my buttons were moved, but I fixed it right-quick. And now I'm perfectly happy with it.

its very fast, images in particular load nearly instantly which is a big improvement for me considering 3.6 started to feel a bit clunky because of all the add ons. i still have them all on so they must have done something right! only thing i dont like is they removed the bar at the top so i have to minimise before i can move firefox to another screen

Honestly, the best thing about it is the fact that I have a Back to the Future skin on it, which is awesome. But its ok, I probably haven't used it enough yet to prefer it to the older version. Eh, as long as I'm not using IE i'm not too bothered!

I love it because it allows for more space on the screen. I use a laptop, so I'm kind of limited in terms of vertical space.

I like my 'military' look of FF3 and Windows (with all that 'aeros' crap turned off).

I 'upgraded' to FF4 and went back to FF3 after an hour.

It's faster, and after I got the buttons back to where they were before, looks nicer. Unfortunately, it broke one of my favorite plugins, and works glitchily with, of all things, Adobe Acrobat. I am definitely looking forward to the bug fix updates.

I like it, it's faster and that's all I need from a browser, I don't care about how it looks (Although I have a cool Itachi Uchiha skin right now) I got a little confused at first about the refresh button but eh, you get used to it. XD

What pisses me off is that the new tab button can be at the very left or the very right. Who the hell came up with that bright idea?

Realy, I personally love the new aesthetic, but I guess it's just opinion of course. What isn't opinion however, is that it's fast as hell. Even if this thing was only usable with a Justin Bieber skin, I would still use it just because I can load HD trailers in two seconds.

I got the message to download it yesterday, but I clicked 'ask me later'.

I'm still not sure if I should download it...

Personally I like it. Although the whole chrome like thing pisses me off a lot.

its alright. I'm still getting used to it (mostly the lack of the most visited sites in an easy to find place, which is how I usually got to the escapist instead of going through my sectioned favorites). It reminds me more of a Cloud Network program than anything else, but I like the whole look.

I've already talked about why I don't like Google Chrome [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.196032-Why-Google-Chrome-Is-Not-My-Favourite-Browser#6300545]; the same criticisms apply to Firefox 4. I want my goddamned menus back, and I don't care what they say about efficiency - the minimalistic interface just looks stupid.
Mine never actually left - every time I've installed Firefox 4 the little "Get to know Firefox" graphic has been ridiculously inaccurate, because my menus are all still there along the top and there is no weird orange "all in one" abomination. Doesn't seem to matter if I'm doing an in-place upgrade from 3.6 or a fresh install either. The only change that annoyed me was the new "Add-ons" toolbar it insists on sticking the Ad Block Plus icon in if you install that after the upgrade to 4, instead of up near the URL where it was before (this being something I do often for users at work), but you can just drag the icon back to where it used to be in the customization screen, so I don't really have any complaints.

Do plugins designed for the previous version of firefox work with 4 immediately? I mean add ons, themes, extensions, plugins, everything. I've delayed installing it until I know it's not going to screw up Firefox completely.
