Episodes IV-VI are absolute classics and some of the best movies ever created. Return of the Jedi is where Star Wars should have stopped forever. It's not possible to improve it and hell know they didn't even try. All the new stuff is pure shit (movies, games and animated series) and needs to be burnt, buried and never spoken of again.

I watched them in order I-VI when I was 12 and at that time I thought that the Prequel Trilogy was better. I am ashamed, really. No, the Prequel Trilogy is still pretty good but the originals are much better.
The animated series is okay, too childlish, the storyline is weak, the lightsabre battles are also unimpressive but most of the action is really kickass.
Also, that whole "Han shot first" scene changings are fucking retarded.

The animated movie was absolutely hopeless. They managed to nail everything from insufferably annoying sidekicks to indifferent plots, all in one sad excuse of a movie.

Lucas has created a cool universe, but in my opinion, his merits end there.

I love Empire, Star Wars is good, Jedi has some good bits but hasn't aged as well.
I hated the prequels. But I don't mind Episode One because it's a kid's film and it knows it. Episode II is boring except the last half hour. Episode III just stinks - takes itself way too seriously and the 'jokes' fall flat.

Of the 2 early animated ones, the second one was alright because it had a story structure, the first one felt like a fan effort.

Of the new Clones Wars TV series - I really like it for what it is. I hate the Clone Wars movie though. The second season has just started, so far I've found it a little disappointing because it's already starting to rehash some things from the first season that obviously worked for them. It has potential though.

I'm gald all of them have been made because it's kept it alive, and some cool video games have come out as a result.

I liked both of the Star Wars triologies. Each has its faults and its merits.
I don't even consider jar jar as that anoying, but most od the sith in the new triology just had no depth to their character. I know that Darth Vader set the bar pretty high, but they could have at least tried to give them more than just a few fight scenes with no background.

The original trilogy was good. the prequel trilogy couldve done without so much anakin angst and a better actor. it seems that george was just trying to rush the third one out to appeal to his ravenous fan base, and the more level headed fans tend to see the flaws in that. of course there are arguements for either side.

the only way i ever enjoy episode III is by playing FF music in the back during certain scenes. and believe me, it makes the movie better. "Ani, im pregnant! *Sephiroth's theme plays, accurately portraying dispair*" "*Anakin cuts off dooku's head* *Victory theme*"

Also, the story really doesn't end. The Empire still stands, nothing changed. Don't tell me stuff happens in the books. I refuse to watch a movie then continue the adventures in novel form. If it starts as a movie, it ends a movie.
Ah yes, and who can forget the massive fleet of( something way over 20) Imperial Class Star Destroyers that just disappeared after the Death Star was destroyed. They were facing just two Mon Calamari Cruisers and some blockade runners/Corellian Corvettes. Robot Chicken pointed the first point out nicely.
I actually completely forgot about the Star Destroyers. I was referencing the fact that just because a weapon and leader were destroyed that does not mean that an entire Empire is automatically finished. There is bound to be someone who will step in and take the Emperor's role and keep things running. Maybe run things more efficiently. Maybe come up with a plan that works, or at least have an exit strategy that is different than "They blew up the last one, lets make another one, that seems like a great idea."

Grew up with the prequels - Episode 1 is the first film I remember seeing at the cinema and I really like it (so shoot me) and Episode 3 is very good.

V and VI are really enjoyable, although the very first isn't great to me although I still like it.

Episode 2 was... Meh. Too much love crap, which Lucas can't write well (he's admitted it even) and subsequently Hayden Christensen couldn't act out very well. He was very good in Episode 3 (less whiny ***** more troubled hero) though.

The Clone Wars series needs to be burned and forgotten about. Jesus, it's awful (and so are the games, give the f*ck up! Produce something we want!).

My theory is whatever one you grew up with you'll generally prefer. After all, each trilogy is very different in tone, setting, characters and pretty much everything. If the first film you saw was in the original trilogy, then that's what you're going to associate Star Wars with (i.e. the Empire, etc.) where as the prequels are far more Jedi-centric.

Watching the 'sequel' trilogy, you don't even really get much in the way of being told what a Jedi is apart from the few lines Ben tells you about them, that they use the force and have lightsabers. That's it.

There's nothing in the way of information on the temple, what sort of things they actually did (apart from act as peace keepers) and whatnot.

So yes, if you ask me to name a Skywalker the first name I think of will be Anakin, not Luke.

While I like them all, I agree that 1 and 2 are not as good as the rest of them.

I liked the original trilogy, Hated episode 1, thought that episode 2 was better, and I thought that episode 3 was quite good.

EDIT: And I really hope Lucas would've just stopped making anything related to Star Wars after getting it alright with episode 3. The Clone Wars just... suck so amazingly bad.

I liked all of them, excepting of course the cartoon. I mean just the 1-6 main movies. Admittedly the episodes 1 and 2 are the worst in the whole series.

Episode IV-VI are very good films, Episode I i found a massive let down, Episode II ok Episode III not bad at all, Except for (and I know i'm going to get some hate for this) me and a friend at work were talking about how bad the original Vader suit looked in a new film.

i thought that all of the films apart from the ugly CGI one were brilliant. I liked the clone wars cartoon that was in 15 minute shorts one as well, that one wasn't CGI and was still canon with the rest of the stuff, ans had all the original actors doing the voices unlike the crappy Clone Wars movie.
