So I have a fairly mid range laptop: i3 processor, Nvidia Geforce 315m, 3DDR and I decided to finally properly upgrade it so it runs at its best performance level.
I found this handy game-relevant guide [http://www.geforce.co.uk/optimise/guides/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweak-guide/#1] to Optimising Skyrim, which led to this handy guide [http://www.geforce.co.uk/optimise/guides/stable-pc-gaming/#1] on upgrading your pc overall.
I'm running through them, and running into many questions that my computer illiterate mind is having difficulty fully grasping, so I decided to stick this thread up for help as I go along, and as a handy guide if anyone else decides their PC could do with a check-up too!
Step #1: I did the obvious run of the standard Disk cleanup and Disk Defragmenter found in the startup menu, no problems there.
Step #2: Update drivers on the PC. Started with the link [http://www.geforce.co.uk/drivers] they gave to upgrade my Nvidia graphics driver updates, that went off fairly smoothly.
Then they said you should update all your other drivers, giving the examples of audio, router, and DVD drivers.
Now, My first question is this: What other drivers should I upgrade, how do I find out what drivers I have on my system, and where do I go to upgrade them?
EDIT: I found this site for driver updating: [link removed: Riddled with adware.] Is it safe, and is it any good?
