I was discussing organ donors with my family. It seems to me that not using the organs of a dead person to possibly save a living person makes no sense. They didn't agree with me. I will donate my organs when I die, I don't even have to think about it. But they thought different. The idea of a loved being mutilated after death disturbed them, but I don't understand why. After all, the body is now dead, it's compost. It's either going to be buried or cremated. Why should somebody else, who could otherwise have lived, die because the family of the dead person is so attached to the body?
I totally support the opt-out method, rather than the current opt-in method. It will save lives, and living people are more important than those who are dead. The more organs, the better.
