Since I would be talking out of my ass if I didn't try the demo for Mass Effect 3, I grudgingly installed Origin to download the damn thing. I fully intend to remove the service once I've finished the demo.

Anyways, annoyance started with the stupid passwords. I haven't used my EA account in months, so I updated my password just to download Origin. Only for Origin to tell me that my new password was too weak, and I had to update it again. Why exactly? My new password was exactly one character longer, and it somehow was more secure.

I know it's a nitpick, but I hate jumping through these hoops just to try a fucking demo. Why does the demo need to be offered through Origin exactly?

Yeah that happens with many different services now, just like you 'NEED' to have at least 1 number, 1 letter, and 1 capitalized letter in any password. It's not Origin exclusive.

The ironic thing is that I already made sure to add one capital, one lower case, and one number, and it still told me to change.

Also, fun bug my roommate found with origin. If you put a comma in your password the parser on the client totally shits itself and tells you that you have an invalid password.

I hate being forced to use "strong" passwords on shitty sites. We all know Origin/EA has and will be hacked several times over the next few years and I would hate to blow my "good" passwords on them.

I also find it pretty damn hypocritical how they tout password strength when we all know their back end is unprotected and they will end up storing our data unencrypted.

What annoyed me is that you can't just download the demo directly from the Origin client, you have to go to their site and have it launch the application. It took me slightly longer than it should have for me to start the download for the demo and required a couple of application restarting to get it to work. Luckily I don't intend on using Origin for anything but what is required. So basically Mass Effect and Battlefield.

Just add a number sign and a number at the end of whatever password you've chosen. Should work.
