After buying Fallout 1 and 2 from the Steam store for a good price, wanting to experience even more of Fallout than I already have, I loaded it up to find that the first original game has quite a bit more colour than Fallout 3 or New Vegas.

Because the Pixels like to think they are rainbows rather than normal pixels.

As you can see, Fallout in my case is not about living in a Post-Nuclear War scenario, but living in a Post-Sonic Rainboom society. It's rather distracting, to say the least and hinders my enjoyment.

I haven't tried Fallout 2, but I've also had this happen with me on the original Starcraft, which I would give an example, but trying to find the CD is a pain.

Calumon: Person who helps get's cookies and we can play aaaaaaallllll day! :D

You have a rare LGBT version of Fallout. You can only expect more rainbows from here on.

But I can confirm that the fix the guy above posted does, in fact, work. You get the same problem of most games from the same area. I have to use the .bat workaround for AoE 2.

This is going to sound retarded, but bear with me: right click on your desktop, go to the screen resolution tab, then run the game (keeping the display tab open). I used to have the same problem with the original Starcraft, and for some reason it's not an issue when I do this. As for why and how, your guess is as good as mine.

I think I'm doing something wrong here, as I follow your instructions to the letter, changing the directory as appropriate (since I run it in Steam) but I think Steam might be the one causing me the problems, as I can see it closes and re-opens Windows Explorer without opening Fallout, which is annoying. I keep checking the directory and it is right and the code is to the letter what you said, but still, nothing.

You're right. It did sound retarded, but dear god, it worked. If someone can explain that somehow, whether it activates something for the display, that would be awesome. Serves as a nice solution.

Calumon: Why am I even here? I can't play it. : (
