It's 2011. And that means we have a whole year of movies ahead of us. Which also means we have a whole year behind us. And a whole year of movies to recall and think about.
So, the Oscars are on the horizon and I thought it would be neat to hear everyone's predictions. Even though the nominations haven't been released, I'm sure everybody has at least one or two predictions.

I think Inception will win, but I want Toy Story to. Also, it would be nice to see Scott Pilgrim to get nominated for something. How about best original song? It's got tons of those. Christian Bale has a good chance to get supporting actor, Natalie Portman will probably win for Black Swan, and Pixar will once again win best animated, despite How to Train Your Dragon being an actually quite good Dreamworks Film.

And I would totally pass out if Daft Punk won Best Original Score (Tron Legacy)

If there's any justice, Inception will take Best Picture. Admittedly, the Academy don't normally like science fiction, but its critical and commercial success, plus the flak they took for neglecting The Dark Knight, ought to mean that Inception should have a very decent shot at the award. Other probable nominations are Toy Story 3, which, as you say, will definitely win Best Animated Film, and possibly Black Swan; I've not seen it yet, but from what I hear it sounds like a strong candidate.

Scott Pilgrim is on the shortlist for Visual Effects; whether it'll actually be nominated is yet to be seen. It would be nice if it does get nominated, but I think this will probably be another award that Inception ought to win, for the spinning corridor fight scene if nothing else. I would've loved to see Monsters get considered for this award, but it's not happening, alas.

The only Oscar worthy movie I saw was The Black Swan. Natalie Portman definitely deserves an award for that performance, but I haven't seen any others so I can't really make an accurate judgment.

These are predictions, not my own personal list.

Best Picture: Black Swan
Best Director: Darren Aronofsky
Best Actor: James Franco (127 Hours)
Best Actress: Natalie Portman (Black Swan)
Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale (The Fighter)
Best Supporting Actress: Helena Bonham Carter (The King's Speech)
Best Animated Feature: Toy Story 3

The one that I think has the biggest chance of being wrong is the 'Best Actor' category, as I really wasn't sure about that one.
