Because the number of man and women is nearly the same. The bumber of heterosexual men and women is also nearly the same, otherwise the number homosexuals would be known to be vastly different. In the societies we are talking about, polygamy is forbidden or at least extremely rare and thus doesn't change the numbers much. So most people in a relationship with a member of the opposite sex have one partner. Which means the number of people without a relationship is going to be also very similar. Yes, there are people with additional secret lovers, but both sexes do that and it is not that common or lasting to significantly change the number of unbound people in favor of one sex.McElroy said:How do you figure this?
