We've heard a ton about The Double Fine Adventure and Wasteland 2. But someone on my regular TF2 server yesterday told me to check out The Banner Saga [http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stoic/the-banner-saga?ref=spotlight]. I took his advice and then found myself backing it after reading up and watching their video. To simplify things, The Banner Saga is a turn-based strategy RPG based around Norse folklore. I'm loving the art direction they are going with, and the whole package looks promising.

I think now is a great time to keep the momentum going for the site, so let's talk about some of the other projects you've been following. What makes them interesting to you?

Also, none of this:

This game is a kickstarter project? I had no idea. I saw an article on Rock Paper Shotgun announcing the game a little while back and thought it might be right up my alley. Given that they were only asking for $100K, I'm guessing this was supplemental funding.

I'm sure I can send a little money their way.

Hmmm, that does look interesting.

If it ends up being Skyrim with more focus on story, characters and role-playing then I'll most likely check it out.

Also, Dead State [http://www.deadstate.doublebearproductions.com/faq/] is apparently working toward going to Kickstarter once they've got a bit more to show.

If they get anywhere close to their vision with that game, it will be fantastic.

FTL [http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/64409699/ftl-faster-than-light] looks really good. Definitely gonna get that at release.

Not likely. The devs looking towards FF tactics and chess for inspiration.
I think this game has great potential, but it's definitely aimed at the oldskool crowd.

I probably worded that really badly as I actually didn't like Skyrim and I've been looking for something good with a Norse mythological setting.

I'm well aware that it's going to be turn-based and I've got nothing against that.

+1.

Also, if anyone likes tactical shooters, Takedown needs more love.

It's a shame that that one looks unlikely to get funding. It seems like the closest thing to an old-school Rainbow Six game we've had in a while.

They don't have the name recognition of Tim Schafer or Brian Fargo, and the original pitch was a bit crap and vague. They still need about $60K in 35 hours.

I was looking at that one too. I need to read up some more on it, but it's one I'll be following closely.

This game is called dead linger. Its a sandbox RPG of a zombie apocalypse. barricades, survival, randomized cityscape, the works.
They are only asking for $60,000? Must have had a great deal of funding before now. The pitch is very good. I'm not into zombies, but I can definitely see the appeal in Dead Linger.

Wow, Takedown actually got its funding. $60K below the goal with two days to go, and they ended up at $221,833 ($200,000 goal). Good news.

Shadowrun Returns looks interesting too:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1613260297/shadowrun-returns

I haven't played any of the previous Shadowrun games, but it certainly sounds like a very interesting world. The game itself will be, according to them:
A graphically rich 2D turn-based single player game with deep story interaction, meaningful character development, and highly-contextual tactical combat
