What games have been ruined for you by other people? They point out every tiny flaw in the game till you yourself start thinking the game is shit. You used to think it was fun but now you cant play it. What games have been ruined by other people? Or do you just keep playing no matter what?

I'm lucky enough to be able to make up my own mind thanks :p

Only thing that takes enjoyment from games is hyperactive muppets on voice chat in multiplayer games. I really wish there was an auto-mute-all button in the options. I can't think of a time when some random player was saying anything remotely interesting.

yeah man, if someone doesn't like a game but you do. Don't listen to them, they obviously don't have the same taste as you so why should what they say matter?

Even if someone gets to me before I get my hands on a game, I'll still play it until I can form my own opinion, yeah i'll look out for what they've told me but most of the time when someone doesn't like something their going to exaggerate the problems.

Don't take what other people say at face value, always hold some doubt until you can prove something is garbage or not. I've had it happen the opposite where I've played a game and loved it where they tried to make me hate it. Some times I think I do it just to spite them.

When I play World of Warcraft, I always get THAT guy.

Yeah you know the guy, the dude that gives the argument "WoW is a soul sucking monster that will destroy your life."

Then I just feel guilty about playing the game...

Until I turn on iTunes and forget what he said.

I don't have this problem so much with games as I do with movies.

I love watching stupid, bad movies, because I can just turn my brain off and enjoy the 'splosions and stupidity of the plot.

Then someone goes, "YOU LIKE THAT MOVIE?!?!?!?" and points out every little flaw. Then the next time I watch it, I can't help but notice.

Sadly, World of warcraft is heavily populated by "Those guys" as are every MMO, no matter how well you screen your chat, and groups, you will always encounter someone to spoil your gaming experience, i played MMo's for a long time until i got sick of hearing kids flaming, griefing and being generally disgusting to each other. THe problem with Online gaming, whether it be multiplayer xbox live races on forza 3, or hugely popular MMo's like world of warcraft, people ignore the EULA, forget that they are playing with other people, and think that because they paid for it, and because they are sat at their own computer and in no risk of being punched for being an obnoxious little turd, that their opinion is always right, that their behaviour is normal, and that they are the most important person playing and therefore anyone who disagrees with them is immediately a "N00b"

if you want to rule out any risk of having a game spoiled by someone else, you will have to skip online play altogether.

I love stupid movies that I know are stupid, I play games I know are flawed, and I listen to music a lot of people think is crap. I don't give a flying rat's ass what other people think about a particular form of entertainment.

People don't ruin games for me, they just ruin the games for me when I play with them. I have a friend when playing Army of Two, Gears, Halo, Resident Evil 5 and every time he died, he'll blame me when either he was going to far ahead or staying too far behind. He'll get mad at me if I didn't save him by sniping a guy (just one) that's killing him when I have like 6+ enemies on me. So I've been avoiding Army of Two: the 40th Day and lot of Co-op games with him. I just don't play with him any more. Oh and it's worst when we play against each other. MW2 has ranks where you unlock weapons and stuff and he'll ***** if I was one level above him even if we were using the same weapons. Or he'll get mad if I memorized every map when he had no time to. I just avoid gaming with him, he's pretty cool when not anyways.

This.
Don't let peoples opinions sway you. I know what I like. Besides, my friends that actually hate a game who's opinion I trust will tell me "You should try it for yourself anyway".
I AM NOT ROBOT.

Also, I tend to have the opposite reaction. When someone HYPES UP something, I am always disappointed. I have yet to play ME2 (broke) but I avoided all talk, articles, trailers, even the ZP review like the plague. I don't want to hear about how good or bad it is, I want to find out for myself. It's even worse when it doesn't live up to they hype. If I go in thinking "I don't know what to expect, and get a game like, Second Sight, I will love it. If I go in thinking "Hmm the trailers all look awesomesauce omg" and get, I dunno, Spider-Man 3, I will gauge my eyes out and cry in the shower with my clothes on. I prefer the former to the latter.

i have to laugh at the irony of someone saying they are not a robot because they ignore other peoples opinion. If someone tells you a game is crap, then that by no means has to form an opinion for you, but it will certainly lower your expectations a little when you start playing yourself.

I very rarely take one persons opinion as gospel. If im looking to buy a new game, i usually visit 6 or more places to view user written reviews first. Before I bought Fallout 3, i read about 50 different reviews. I wanted to be sure that i wasnt just going to be playing an Oblivion clone, and that there would be some new stuff to do.
