Recently, i've see a couple of threads here that offer other wars BESIDES the World Wars or wars with the US invading some country seemingly related to the Middle-Eastern countries.

So far i've seen the Civil War and 6 Day war. A few alternate realities to.

So, which war would be best for the next FPS/RTS/ect..? (Does NOT have to be restricted to any one type of genre)

Korean War
Veitnam
Greek Wars
Any war you can remember. It can't be made up though, has to be a real war (maybe a few alternates here and there to.)

I personaly like the idea of a 6 Day War game as i have been discussing with a few of you before.

The 6 Day War would be a terrible game. All that happened was Israel came and beat the crap out of Egypt. Where's the entertainment in that?

As for ancient era FPS, as much as I love the era, the game would be dreadfully dull. You'd march in formation and try not to be impaled on some barbarian's spear. The reason why modern wars and WWII caught on so well was that it involves a rapidly changing front with soldiers moving independent of each other.

How about, you play as different sides in the Balkans? Fight Russians, Serbs, etc, etc.

A Vietnam war game would play more epileptically than Jericho.
You're walking, oops, you stepped on a mine that you couldn't possibly have seen. Start level over.
Opps, there was a mine there too. Star level over.
Another mine!?
Congratulations, you made it passed the mine field. But because you didn't order your comrades to avoid the mines the kong kill you from the trees.
What, you didn't like Space Ace and Dragon's Lair?

Hey, there could be alot of potential in that war (or another bone to scrape clean of its flesh by developers)

You could fight at the battles at the Gaza Strip and Sinai Peninsula, ect... be in the Air Force and fight those Air-to-Ground battles.

i'd pay for that game (if it was done correctly and not quarter-assed)

In the Six Day War game, I can think of a couple other sections:

Tank warfare in the Golan. One mission replays an actual battle where you use the four tanks under your command to hold off an entire Syrian armored column.

Urban combat in Jerusalem. The star mission here is Ammunition Hill.

Finally, there is an airborne section in the Sinai. Not particularly unusual, except it is possible to kill Ariel Sharon (your commanding officer) during the campaign. This will be leaked, and may get some Arabs to buy the game.

Something close to Kingdom of Heaven perhaps? I think it could've been good if you just give the assignment to a good studio, instead of those lousy bastards that make the Harry Potter games...

You know, as far as I know, there isn't a first-person "shooter" set in medieval times or earlier. Every game using pre-industrial technology is either fantasy or an RTS.

At least someone was paying attention. This is very similar to what I suggested in the other thread, and this could possibly be the game of the decade if done right. By the way, I like your suggestion BETTER than my own... I hope someone makes this game.
I second that. The more i think about it, the better it seems to me.

Do you know what could be cool? A game that's a montage of famous battles from different time periods. You could have a Bunker Hill sequence (just trying to use the weapons to hold back the Brits), a Battle at Bull Run (playing as the Union, just to throw in an interesting twist of being being destined to lose), a couple of WWI battles, Operation Market Garden, Guadalcanal, and so on.

Maybe a game centered around the 100 year war. Might make a good RTS or an FPS where you play as single soldier running around a battlefield. You could play as many different roles such as an Archer, Man at Arms, a Knight or maybe a cannon crewmen (yes they had cannons in those days).

Skrew the RTS, this First person game sounds great.

I would like to see WWII from different campaigns. Where you aren't trumping around blasting Nazis as all-American Dr. Rex Q. McAwesomeburg.

Anyone else ever heard or read about the Finnish Winter War?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_war

Perhaps this guy could be the protagonist (if the game is played from the Finnish perspective) or the nemesis (Soviet perspective) of the game:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simo_H%C3%A4yh%C3%A4

The setting would still be WWII, but from a completely different perspective.

Peloponnesian War would be interesting as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peloponnesian_War

Me Vs your mother last nig... ok Purple just ease down there a bit.

To stay true and blue I'm going to go with a WW1 Aussie shooter.

First training levels begin in Egypt. Race up pyrimids, slide down sand dunes. Great fun.
Next level sees you on the beaches and hills of Turkey. Maybe Galipolli since that's the most famous of them all. After being pulled out by the British you and your regiment goes to africa and from there the last battles commence in the Somme with missions including the saving of French towns and the likes.

The game would show the Aussies dislike for British command, or any command for that matter, and our strong mateship we had for one another.

I would like to se a game depicting the genocide in Rawada. But it wouldent realy work as a war game, more like a stealth/adventure full of extremely strong images of people getting killed. Not realy a feel-good game.
