I don't really think you've managed to address my comments that it is more than just that. Making vocal communication is an evolutionary trait. But considering that humans who are not taught language by other humans, will no posses it (1 at a time) seems to counter your point.Magenera said:

I am amazed that everyone ignored the most basic and important development in mankind's collective history, Agriculture.

Too many breakthroughs in the fields of general physics and quantum / theoretical physics to list. Equal in merit.... mostly due to the fact that they are owing to one another. Or, at least, rely on them somewhat.
If I had to pick one thing. It would be the development of the lens. Helping billions to see, lazer technology, data storage, photography, filmography, projection etc etc etc. From Galileo Galilei to cosplay eyes. It all adds up.
I realize electricity has, probably, done more for us as a species.... but to be fair it already existed we simply harnessed it. In the same vein. Nature gave us the lens. I just feel that we have redesigned and applied the lens, more so. Making it, seemingly, more our achievement.

Laws and morals, both religious and political laws. With these we were able to move past being pure savages who did whatever we want without consequence and acted off of base instinct just like any other animal out there. And can't forget science and philosophy which helped us understand the world we live in. These things is helped us prove that we are the dominant creation. I also think religion is a great achievement, Gods message and teachings may be from him, but every religion developed from an interpretation of his will and not his exact words; no one can claim that their religion teaches the true word of God, not even the 3 Monotheistic religions (Christians cant claim this, Jews cant claim this, and myself and my fellow Muslims cant claim this either even though all of us still do). And for any Atheists who want to bad mouth me on this, keep your comments to yourself.

i'd say agriculture... it led to all other great achievements...
the ability to settle in one place and build as opposed to continual roaming around food sources... it let those cities become cultural and technological (for the time) meccas
