I've been Peachy for a long time- starting with the adult swim message board. I actually like the nickname a lot better than my real one!

I've gone by "Danny Boy," "Dan," "Dan the Man," and "Lepidus."

I chose "Beowulf DW" after a Literature class in high school a few years ago. I thought that it sounded cool, and (at the time) most people had never heard of Beowulf, so it was original. I also chose it because I was hoping that I could be a little bit bolder, just like the mythological hero.

Edit: My dad also calls me "Buckwheat" from time to time.

I feel more comfortable going by a handle rather than my first name. I have friends who've had online stalker issues, so keeping as much of my identity hidden as possible makes me feel more at ease.

I go by a couple of aliases, but the one I use most frequently is Jetbaby, taken from a minor character from the Parappa the Rapper vg.

This is interesting. I kind of use mine...well partly because my name is really boring (Joe) and the fact that almost everyone else uses one. I picked Gr8fulElegy for my gamertag because it sounds cool, yet smart at the same time. I love when people on x-box live ask me what an elegy is....or they just call my eggy. Just plain Gr8ful works just fine though. Velocirapture combines my love of killer prehistoric creatures and slightly unused words (a la Elegy).

Wouldukindly simply comes from both my love of Bioshock and Ayn Rand's novels.
I didn't know would you kindly was in an Ayn Rand novel! Which one? That part of Bioshock was awesome.

Odin, Blood, Legend, Blood Legend, Merc, Godling, Rahn, Rahnzan, Renzo, The Phil.

Odin was brief. No one calls me Blood, Merc, or Renzo anymore, Blood Legend is only on a few forums, Rahnzan is typically my handle for certain messangers and my gamertag wherever applicable, Rahn is what it typically gets shortened to when people try to talk to me. That name by the way is pronounced sort of like an inbetween of "Ran" and "Ron" or "r-ah-n." The Phil is the only real-world nickname I have. Godling is a name one of my dear friends still calls me by because I once used it in an MMO and I guess it sounds a bit too cute to let go.

I typically answer to Rahnzan, Rahn, Godling, or Phil. I use Rahnzan because the internet (and xbox live) is usually full of idiots whom I'd rather not associate with. This nickname distances me from that. I'm not ashamed to tell people I trust or announce in a responsible section of cyberspace my real name, but I wont respond proper if I'm playing a game. It's like 'Phil' is out-of-character and Rahnzan is in-character.

If I'm playing Left4Dead, you could go "Hey Phil, hows yer mum?" and I'll typically respond. But unless you ask for Rahnzan when you need help with a Smoker, it's probably going to pass over me.

I was in a ska band called "the O'Somethings" taking the pseudonym Ace O'Something. (other members were Duece O'Something, Jack O'Something, and Chica O'Something) At that time i set up my first e-mail address using the name, i pretty much use it or a variation of it exclusively on internet forums and the ilk.

On games my nom de guerre is "HammernAnvil" (or just Anvil) Cuz My first name is Thor and my last name is an old Norwegian word for Anvil.

Far as what people call me to my face; few stray from my given name. edit: that is except my older brothers

HoboBill was my gaming name for so many years it just sorta stuck, unfortunately someone has apparently taken it on XBL (scumbag) so its been shortened to Hobes. Not sure why Vanilla Gorilla as Im not particularly pale or known for my powerful physique, quite happy with the moniker though!

Actually going to do something which makes me feel slightly uncomfortable, my real name is Steven Brown. There, i did it! To be honest its the main reason I still adopt screen names, I have pretty much the dullest name imaginable, after all its hardly a rare name so it would be pretty hard to glean anything useful from it, my bank account details and address on the other hand are....

Anyone else man (or woman) enough to share? Does displaying their real name agitate anyone?

Kudos for the creative idea mate! Well I use a nickname because... well it's kinda fun to think of many names you can use. Take for instance this: I was once killed by a guy in Team Fortress 2 called "The entire population of china", so when it happened the game popped a very amusing message saying "You were killed by the entire population of china"! So I don't know why everyone else uses nicknames, but personally I use them for the LOLz factor :) (by the way my steam name is Drunk Pickle xD)

I go by several different names to reset my standing on the internets.

Seriously, I've done stupid things under certain names/emails, so I change them regularly thinking "maybe someone from (website) or (game) goes to these forums and will notice it's me, and alkdjfad;lsfjslfjdkfjdals;kf because I did (generic bad activity) to him."

It's odd, because I know I'm not really that impacting on anyone, but meh.

A long time ago I really liked mechwarrior 2 so I named myself Jade_Falcon. ;/

It's actually not from an Ayn Rand novel, just her philosophy and symbolism played a major part in Bioshock (Andrew Ryan= A.R.=Ayn Rand, Atlas= Atlas Shrugged, all that stuff).
Okay, Now that you mention it that does make sense. I didn't even think of the andrew Ryan bit.

I've used...2...that I can think of...my first, when I was younger...much younger, was Firedrow. Was a big fan of Salvatore and Drizz't (spelling? obviously I'm not a fan anymore).

The most recent, Izail, came out of my first WoW character. It's just my mangled version of Isaiah (the name I originally wanted, but was taken)...The "08" bit are just some random numbers tacked on because some sites/games/forums/etc. need numbers at the end of the name. I know that's not always true, but those are the numbers I got into the habit of using.

Most people call me by my last name because both my parents are teachers so that ment what ever school they taught at i would have to go to that school and everyone got tired of saying "Miss Senghor's son" so everyone just called me Senghor so i'm not sure if that counts as a nickname . As for my gamertag it was going to be "skini trini" for the simple fact that im really skinny and i was born in Trinidad but that name was taken so it was Senghor for a while but most people had trouble saying it in matches so i changed it to "Slim Reaper" but that too was taken so i just added a 10 at the end because its my favotite number.

Orannis was the villain from the second and third parts of the Abhorsen trilogy (Kerrigor was the villain in the first).
