Holy shit, did you sneak into my room and discover my secret journal detailing all my greatest video gaming passions and copy/paste?

Just switch out that terrible, terrible, terrible GB Star Wars game for JK2 and its practically taking the words out of my mouth.

Ah Rogue Squadron... so much time spent getting gold medals on every single level. Fest was a total pain in the a** the first dozen times I tried, but eventually I got through it. Still royally annoyed that none of its sequels ever got a PC release. And that they got rid of the laser-linking mechanics.

Would second Empire at War, it's essentially Total War in Star Wars. Tons of fun, and some of the best mods ever!

No Star Wars Empire at War? You can have dozens of Super Star Destroyers under your command, its great! D:
Not without mods. Though, I think I know the one you're talking about. In the base game, the Executor isn't even available, IIRC. Forces of Corruption changes Vader's space unit to the Executor... You can still spam out the Imperial Class Star Destroyers though...

Seriously though, it's a fantastic RTS.
Agreed, I love that game. It was probably the best Star Wars RTS *thinks back for a moment* yeah it was the best.

Also drop the side scrollers (they beat the shit out of me as a kid) and put in the Jedi Knight series (I <3 jedi academy) and X-wing and tie-fighter.

Nobody remember X-wing Vs Tie-Fighter? The first star wars space sim game that had teams of people on both sides doing missions against each other?

Jedi Academy is objectively the best Star Wars game ever made. I like this list otherwise.
Sometimes I really wish that Total Biscuit hadn't taught the internet to use "objectively" as an intensifier.

Confession time: I hadn't tried Jedi Knight 2 or Empire at War before, and only played TIe Fighter for the first time for my Good Old Review, so I didn't have any nostalgic memories to draw from. But doing some of these as retro reviews when we haven't done four Star Wars articles in a row is a possibility. :)

The gamyboy stars wars game is identical to the NES game of the same name that came out at the same time.
You're kidding! Now I'm kinda tempted to pick up the NES game and make a review of it. Thanks for the info. I'll update the article accordingly.

I loved Commando, and am sad that Star Wars games have to either be X-Wing or Jedi. Empire at War was a fun RTS style game.

Haha. Sorry guys. I can't speak for Marshall, but in my case I never played Jedi Knight 2
You need to revise that. It'll be on sale sometime next month during the Steam Winter/Holiday Sale, probably have a 50% off Star Wars day somewhere in there.

There are few things more fun in gaming than plowing through a level in Jedi Knight (or its sequel, Jedi Academy) solely with Force Push, Pull, and Choke.
I actually found a hard copy at Goodwill for $3 a couple weeks ago. I've just been a bit tied up with work/others games. That said, I've heard a ton of great things about it and always wanted to play it. Mayhap I'll give it a try once I wrap up Star Control 2 (next week's review) and DA: Inquisition.

X wing Tie fighter should be on the list replacing the NES game, Jedi Knight should replace crappy racing title and battle for naboo should be replaced with shadow of the empire. Hell this list is worthless without Jedi Knight.......

Sometimes I wish pretentiousness wasn't such a terrible, debilitating disease.
I know, right? Who says that art is objectively good based on their own operational definition of quality? As if their theory of what makes a game good is the only valid one?

As for X-Wing and Tie Fighter, this list was very much nostalgia driven (hence the "Our"). I had a blast playing X-Wing and am still enjoying working through it, but I just don't have the same level of misty-eyed fondness for it that I do for something like Rogue Squadron. :)
OK yeah fair enough, but... you can't pretend 'Battle for Naboo' gave anyone more jollies than freaking TIE Fighter!
