Anyway, I think the thing about this kiss is the story behind it rather than what it shows.

Because some people are so offended whenever anything doesn't fit neatly into their white-bread, bland, heteronormative, "everyone keeps to their own" mindset that they have to screech and yell or they'll feel like they're personally contributing to the destruction of everything of value in the world ("everything of value" meaning: Their white-bread, bland, heteronormative, "everyone keeps to their own" mindset).
