Incorrect. You can't run x86 programs on an ARM-based device so easily. WINE is just a compatibility layer, not an emulator.aelreth said:The Ouya is open source. If you can WINE a PC game, Ouya could play it.
So I was, thank you for the heads up.Rodrigo Girao said:Incorrect. You can't run x86 programs on an ARM-based device so easily. WINE is just a compatibility layer, not an emulator.aelreth said:The Ouya is open source. If you can WINE a PC game, Ouya could play it.
I heard Square-Enix hopped on board so I'm a little bit optimistic. I think with an actual physical controller you'll see games closer to what psn or Xbox live offer.ShinyCharizard said:I want to see some solid games for the system first. So far just having android games on the TV isn't very appealing to me.
Some people think mobile games are still like this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dl4q_Em0EQE], but nowadays they are more like this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXP9Rcr7OLQ].Nieroshai said:I think it's PS4 and Durango and WiiU's "We play AAA games!" vs the Ouya's "Hey, you can play your smartphone apps on your TV now... yay"
Some people think that matters. My Vita does better, plays the same kind of things, and doesn't get much use. Casual "bus stop games" and AAA adventures and RPGs are not in the same category. Consoles do not have competition because mobiles aren't doing the same kind of thing. When cell phones get the next Elder Scrolls and sell even half the copies of a console release, you will have a point.Rodrigo Girao said:Some people think mobile games are still like this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dl4q_Em0EQE], but nowadays they are more like this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXP9Rcr7OLQ].Nieroshai said:I think it's PS4 and Durango and WiiU's "We play AAA games!" vs the Ouya's "Hey, you can play your smartphone apps on your TV now... yay"

Not only is it still a thing, it's apparently going to be an ANNUAL thing.piinyouri said:Is this thing still a thing?
I totally forgot about it.
Or as proponents are calling it, INNOVATION!ClockworkUniverse said:The Ouya dropped off my radar entirely when they announced the annual releases thing.
So you have the additional choices of piracy or shitty freeware? Ummm..Remind me how this is a winner again?RT said:Yeah, but unlike your Vita android has games. And is open source, which means free stuff and emulation.Nieroshai said:Some people think that matters. My Vita does better, plays the same kind of things, and doesn't get much use. The Ouya is interesting. I might, at some point, be interested in it.aba1 said:Everyone keeps talking about how stale and stagnant the industry is and how they want new things but I rarely here anyone mentioning anything about the upcoming Ouya. I know I am getting more and more excited for the Ouya with every announcement I hear about the new consoles. I guess I just find it odd everyone is shouting for change but nobody seems to be excited for the one thing that is rocking the boat.
It's the same question I ask myself when it comes to buying ANY console. The only reason to buy a console seems to be for the exclusives, which is a practice in itself I do not condone.Zhukov said:What games will it have on it that I can't play on my PC?
For me, that's the most important question about any console. This Ouya thing hasn't answered it yet.
Yes, by all means, go tell Gameloft they should drop all their more ambitious titles and make only bus stop games.Nieroshai said:Some people think that matters. So now your choices are shitty freeware or emulating shitty freeware. Seems redundant.RT said:Nothing stops you from emulating freeware stuff.
downloading is still piracy and still illegal in such circumstances.Or owning the original cartridges of software you emulate.
