Over Compensatory Game weapons

I'm not talking about the ultimate weapon of last boss destruction, I'm talking about great weapons or items that made the game somewhat easier, maybe by a little bit or maybe by a hell of a lot. Maybe they had a couple of problems but they were still great weapons. Add as many entries as you want. My first entry is the Wolfenstein 3-D mini gun. Anytime you picked it up the rest of the episode was a cakewalk.

Speaking of Fallout 3, Vengeance, the unique Gatling laser was incredibly powerful. Its problem was that it cost a lot to repair and gatling lasers are hard to find to repair it.

Bioshocks Crossbow was a seriously spammable weapon. Electro bolt+Head+crossbow bolt=dead. That and you could kill every Big Daddy by leading him though 4 trap bolts.
