What games, in your opinion, are extremely successful, but overrated? In my honest opinion, I would say the Halo series.

FF7

Also the Legend of Zelda.

On the other hand, the search bar is very underrated.
Ouch. Those are my 2 favorite games. Dagger through my heart. :p

Star Wars KOTOR. I have tried playing that game 4 times and never has it interested me for over 2 hours.
Also, to a lesser extent, Elder Scrolls games. That was not so much a lack of interest though, but a limited amount of time to experience any of the games of that series to the point of where they are supposed to become fun.

Ok im just going to say it. GoW 2 and Halo 3.
Hey man, i totally agree on Halo 3. I found that game to be average, at best, and everyone acts like its a golden gift from god. It really irritates me.

So games that get bad reviews are always good? I don't follow your logic. There's usually a reason that games get good reviews.

He seems to have the general idea down I would just add Resident Evil to that list and we've got it.

The Beatles are over-rated.

I know they aren't a game, but fuck 'em.
I will find you and I will kill you.

You better watch your back, because no one messes with the Beatles.

cod 4, not that it isn't great but the level of god like status is has been given is borderline ridiculous.
conversely, a great game that is under appreciated is okami. seriously everyone should play it, its brilliant

I'll almost agree with the OP, but I did quite like Halo:CE, even if the other two were utter bilge.

I haven't come across a game like that yet and I haven't played some of these game either so I can't really answer this question fairly. But, I'd have to say the Halo series too. I just don't understand what all the hype is about. I like games that are more realistic, my definition of realistic being:
Weapons that are bullet based not laser.
Somewhat terrestial technology, as non-alien as possible.
Only being able to carry 2 or 3 weapons at a time not a whole bloody ammo dump on your back.
I'll let regenerating health slide but no sheilds.

Games such as Gears of War 2 and the Call of Duty series are good examples.
