That is all. I got into the Overwatch Weekend Beta and ven after two hours I'm fucking in love with this game. The characters, the designs, the gameplay. Its amazing. From a pure gameplay standpoint its 100% superior to TF2 at this point, and I'd say the art, map design and characters are equal to or better than TF2.

I don't think it will overtake games like League though, obviously because of how ridiculously huge League is and how Riot markets it super hard and pushes it all the time while Blizzard has always been more relaxed and hands-off about that kind of thing, and I don't think it will become the #1 shooter either because its harder than Call of Duty with less flashy things that attract casuals and PC gamers will never stop their CS:GO circle jerk for anything, but Blizzard has another big hit and success on its hands here.

Also, Roadhog and Soldier 76 are amazing.

Overwatch looks pretty good to me but it never seems to get really tense, compared to when your team collides with the whole enemy team in LoL, or when you're the last man standing in CS:GO. Maybe it's just hard to feel through watching other people play.

Personally, I'm pinning my shooter hopes on Rainbow Six: Siege.

Overwatch has been on my radar for a while now. I like that it doesn't fit in either the Sprint, ADS, loadout, thruster(optional) trap nor is it doing the F2P style content gates.

It looks to be flexible in terms of choice of characters but the characters themselves are fixed in terms of role and abilities. I can't tell you how tired I am of so many shooters sharing so many mechanics, shallow, gated progression systems, and constant psychological warfare in F2P and now even full priced titles.

My only concern at the moment isn't with the gameplay itself but with the feature set it is going to have. Are we going to have private customizable matches at launch? Replays? Spectator modes? Are there more than a handful of gameplay modes and maps? You can have fantastic core gameplay, but if you don't have community features to build upon I just don't see that community lasting very long in this day and age. The same sort of thing happened with Titanfall where it was generally agreed upon that the core gameplay was good, but it lacked content and features to build a lasting community and by the time it got some of them it was too late.

So I'm cautiously optimistic about it at the moment.

I'm not super excited for it, but it looks pretty fun. I'll probably get it when it comes out (or if I get invited into the beta).

Yeah. I'll try it for some of that sweet, sweet Blizzard polish, but multiplayer shooters never manage to hold me for terribly long.

I haven't had a shooter properly suck me in since 2007. I don't think I necessarily outgrew the genre... it's just that I haven't found anything to scratch that itch since Halo 3 came out way back when.

Way too early to call this amazing. And a year from now I'll still have no trouble at all finding plenty of servers to play TF2 on and I'd bet money you won't be able to say the same for this.

A year from now?

I'll take that bet.

One Steam gift code. Winners choice of game. Value not to exceed $100 USD.

I win if I can find an online Overwatch match on 21 November 2016 and send you a screenshot. You win if I can't.

haha, too funny, find a match hardly constitutes an active player base, but nice try

I'll take that bet too.

This is a Blizzard game, one that is already highly polished and a lot of fun. Sure, it might not have a MASSIVE following, but I'm betting you'll still be able to find plenty of games.

Uhhhh... yes it does?

If there's an active player base then I can find a match. If there isn't an active player base, if nobody is playing the game then I wouldn't be able to find a match.

You can't find a match in many TF2 gametypes as well (like CTF? You're out of luck for the most part), including MvM. It takes a very long time, and even when you do its with people from outside your country.

Aaaanyway. I think it looks pretty fun. Enough to justify the purchase.

Although I don't know what the lifespan will be. I've never understood people who can play the same multiplayer game for years on end. I find the the repetition sets in and all the matches start to blur together within a month or so.

I've been watching gameplay videos and some of the characters look like fun. A lot of them look like fun but also like I'll utterly suck at them.

Aesthetically I find it a mixed bag. I like the art style, but the character designs range from decent to shit, mostly leaning toward the "meh" end of the scale.

We know PC gamers will never, ever stop their CS:GO and TF2 circlejerk.

But PC isn't the only platform its coming out on, and Xbox One and PS4 definitely will enjoy having a AAA Shooter that isn't CoD/Halo/Battlefield.

Honestly, I don't think Rainbow Six: Siege is going to go that well because of the destruction mechanics.

Destruction mechanics are great for single player, or games where you have a lot of health but in a game like RS where you can die from literally one shot they just don't work that well. As we saw in the Beta where people would just make the tiniest hole in the wall and knick you in the kneecap from some random angle you couldn't possibly check even with detection equipment instantly downing you.

Its why towards the end of the Beta the Offensive literally devolved into taking every single character with a Riot Shield and all the heavy armored characters and nothing else because you had no hope of surviving contact with the enemy or even breaching the building beyond the first room without them.
