The people complaining about how the sjw agenda is pushed in their face now are just plain stupid. There was no real hint about tracer being lesbian before. She was just an energetic preppy girl in a multiplayer shooter. Them now revealing that she's lesbian after the fact is anything but 'in your face' and shows that you don't have to write a character specifically as gay for them to be gay.

Fandoms are so weird. Given that Overwatch's story and character development is so paper thin, why bother getting up in arms about the sexual orientation of the characters anyway? Idk what takes the cake: how bent up people get over an exclusively physiological trait being applied to a bunch of 1's and 0's, or the fact that more and more hipster devs feel the need to do so in the first place.

If I was going to say why assholes pitch a fit about stuff like this that's pretty much harmless to the world at large it's because of a simple problem that has plagued the gaming community at large: "ownership." Fans have the idea that they somehow "own" Tracer, that she's their character and they get to dictate how she should act due to preconceived notions. As such any time there is something the creators do that does not conform to that it creates a dissonance within fans. This isn't "their" Tracer, it's not the character "they" envisioned, this can't possibly be right, the creators are wrong! It's just an extension of a problem gamers refuse to address. For other examples of this in action, see Mass Effect and Metroid.
