Have you ever played a game where a character dies and the way it is handled is so heavy handed, ridiculous and over the top that it robs any emotion the game is going for? A recent game almost went that far but not quite. It reminded me of the worst I've seen, it was in Yakuza 3 or 4 and a sort of secondary character gets stabbed and lies dying. At first I was thinking "Damn, I kinda liked that guy" but as the scene dragged on and he said a long winded goodbye to every single person present, any emotion but utter disbelief vanished. I wish I was joking when I said this cut scene took 20 whole minutes but I'm not. It went from me thinking "Aww, thats a bit sad" to 20 minutes later thinking in exasperation "Why isn't anyone calling 911? He is just stabbed not decapitated, an ambulance could have been here 10 minutes ago and this guy could be recovering in hospital". Anecdotes welcome
