Lesson 1, newbie. Use the search button for threads. This one of the ones that pops up a lot and some people get annoyed at threads being repeated often.

No offence, OP, but recently we've had problems with people who are new posting repeat or troll threads. I'm not saying you are a troll, since you quite obviously aren't, this is simply a bit of helpful advice to warn you that, although a minority, some people don't like to see people joining and then posting new threads so early. Just for future reference, you understand.
As it happens, I made a game myself, albeit not a very good one, it's called Thunderball and can be found on http://www.yoyogames.com/ if anyone is interested in taking a look. I honestly don't know what games I would make, since I want to make a game soon but I'm stuck for ideas. Since I want to work in the gaming industry as a Level Designer then that's not so much of a problem as I'm quite creative when it comes to level design but the actual ideas for the games themselves aren't as free flowing. Level design for any FPS would be great though, so to answer the question, I'd probably make an FPS or an RTS, but attempt to get realistic gameplay and basically make it as close as possible a simulation of real life combat

He's right, you should use the search button first, as repeat threads are a nuisance and that kind of thing is frowned upon here. But once you get used to that fact, and you will find this is a great place.
Just lurk about for a bit and see what kinds of things are frowned upon and what aren't, but that one tends to be the main culprit.

always wanted to make a safari game. a proper one with detailed guns, in fps view. you would have to use stealth and also drive around the jeeps. animal activists would be all over it
