it's a pity theres no way to convince her not to, i hate that your future with the blades is dependent on his death, i still dont know what the blades questline is like.

He helped me so I let him live. If he goes nuckin futs later I'll put an arrow through his face. Besides, I'm fairly certain I've killed more people than all the dragons combined. If anyone is a threat to humanity its me. :p

Spoilers for other games

I did it for the reason. What happends after I pass one. There is no telling when or if a new dragon born will show up. If he does turn then every person he kills. Thier blood is on my hands.

Like the bomb in megaton. It's not hurting anyone and heck people warship it. Still do you want to chance it.

As I've said before. I made it known what was coming gave him a fair chance to defend himself and took no joy in killing him. The simple fact is no one truely out runs thier past. Heck we hunt Nazis to this day. Even if he was a doctor who worked a free clinic and gave all his money to charity. We'd still punish him if found.

I really like Parthunaax I feel totally miserable atm because the blades want me to kill him.

:(

I wanted to turn around and list all the nasty shit I've done and see if they want to bring me to justice...

They can try...
Like that life sapping shout you can only complete by joining the Dark Brotherhood, that I've been using to kill dragons from cover? Yeah, I think they'd go ballistic if they knew, especially with my lycanthropy and daedric cannibalism ring.
Well, you don't have to join them. When you get taken to the hut, just kill Astrid. Simple as that.

OT: I killed him. Was easy, too! I mean, why not? I'm killing everything in the game and stealing their shoes!

I don't see why anyone would want to kill Paarthurnax, since he's one of the two friendly dragons in the game. He's also a total bro. Brothurnax, leader of the Greybros, who teach the Way of the Broice atop High Brothgar.

As soon as she said it I thought "Fuck no"- just as the Greybeards told me the Blades aim ot control the Dragonborn.
I mean since from even before you meet her Delphine is manipulating you whereas Brothurnax just gives it to you straight.
I think the thing that cinched it was when Paarthurnax said "is it better to be born good, or to overcome an evil nature through effort?"

And while it might be the player's destiny to eliminate the dragon threat by slaying them and absorbing their souls...
I believe the actual Dragonborn destiny was to just kill Alduin to save the world.

During the main quest itself you see that the Dragon's are in no way evil. Hell you basically get your own pet one that you can call on at any time you're outside! Paarthurnax helped me get the Elder Scroll, fight Alduin and be generally in interesting character. No way am I killing him for the Blades.

Paarth is my teacher, my ally, I am Dragonborn and he is a Dragon. I have a closer affinity with him then I do with the Blades.

Even on my assassin i couldn't bring myself to kill Paarthurnax, he's one of the best characters in the game and I'll be damned if I take orders from the husk of a once respectable organisation

Damn, I shoulda made this thing a poll. Looks like the Blades are getting stomped like a narc at a biker rally in this popularity contest.

For me, it boils down to a question of power rather than morality or sentimental attachment. The dragons are a rising force and the Dovakiin has earned their respect. The Blades, in contrast, are a practical non-entity. Their major contribution to the Great War was getting most of their heads chopped off by the Thalmor.

Pretty cool armour, nonetheless...

I can't persuade the blades that their pursuit of Paarthunax is folly, or lie to them and say he's dead, but can I complete this quest via console, thus keeping Blades & Greybeards happy, and pretend that I persuaded/lied?

'setstage MQPaarthurnax 50' I think.

I let him live. I don't want to be the cause of a species going extinct, PETA will be on my ass about being morally wrong.

I let him live, mainly because I enjoyed talking to him and he helped me out. Kinda annoyed as I actually preferred the Blades to the Greybeards, at least the Blades tried to get shit done rather than constantly moan about abusing power and other such nonsense.
Even so I wasn't about to kill someone who I had come to regard as a friend.

I haven't got to the choice yet (70 hours in and only just got to the Throat of the World), but after reading this thread, there is no way I'll kill ol Paarthy. He's just too damn nice.

Does she drop the password to the Sanctuary though?

I let him live. The biggest mistake to do is not only to kill someone who I like, but to kill an entire species, who cares if their dragons. Besides, Delphine was an ass about it.

Also I actually trusted Paarthunax. He was cool, being a fucking dragon and all.

Honestly that request convinced me the Greybeard's are correct about the Blades, they only see the dragon born as a weapon, the do not serve the dragon born at all.

While I felt the Blades were being manipulative i also saw ole Parthy using me as a tool to get rid of his brother so he could take charge. I didnt trust his smooth talk one bit and it almost felt like a good salesman or con artist... wait salesman are con artists...

Anyway i didnt kill him during the quest but quite a while after it was completed when i had to go back up that damn mountain for some snow during a seperate quest. he was there but wouldnt talk to me so it was as good a time to chop him up and loot his corpse as any.

My point being and thoughts was that both were using me to get a result, but its better to remove Alduins replacement and have the Blades who do more than just worry about dragons. Bringing the blades back would also help in the fight against the dominion where we already know dragons would rather slaughter us than help us so support from them would be fickle or non exhistant.

*edit
For those who chose to let ole parthy live knowing full well he is taking charge notice 2 things. he never said anything about coexisting peacefully and that after Alduin was dead and the quest was completed the dragon attacks became more frequent? Ole parthy is a silver tounged devil!
