I picked up the Gold Edition the other day, since it was on sale at a local store. Anyway, yesterday, I decide it's time to give it a spin. I've played and completed Painkiller before, but not the expansion, so I get started witht that. Upon starting the third level, however, things get weird...

Suddenly, everything happens in double-speed. At least. And it's really ruining the game for me. I have been searching for official patches, and found one, but it didn't adress the problem in the patch notes, nor did it fix it.
Halp?

That makes me nervous. I bought it on Steam the night Yahtzee proclaimed it as divine, but haven't really played it too much as, while it IS serious old-school action, it's really just running around shooting the same kind of things over and over and over again.

I was just in the mood to play it some more. Perhaps not...?

It depends... Did you get the Gold Edition? If so, can I possibly persuade you to report back once you've tried level 3 of Battle out of Hell?
I will repay you, in a method of your preference. Except money. And sex. And nything other thank a kind "thank you". But really, it would be nice.

No problem. I may already be past it. I can't remember because of the way it breaks the levels up into worlds. Gimme a second to check here...answer immediately pending...

I'm at Chapter 1, Level 5. And I haven't had any problems yet. Does that help?

I know lots of Steam games inexplicably work where their retail versions will not. I just bought Return to Castle Wolfenstein on Steam and it works perfectly, and I haven't been able to get the hard version of that game to install for years. All in all, I'd trust Steam, if you have access to it.

I don't know if it helps... I had no problems on the first two levels, so I don't know why it's doing it now. It may be a bug on that individual level, it just doesn't make sense...
But thanks anyway. I might try getting the Steam version.

I'm at the boss battle where you have to kill the 200 ft scarecrow thing in the graveyard while sends wave after wave of skeleton warriors after you. And it's next to impossible, but it's not broken.

If you haven't gone through this yet, then I'm past where you are.
