Hmm, I'm not hugely excited about it, but I'll probably go and see it at some point after my exams have finished (late May).

On a slightly unrelated note: DS9. Is it worth trying to get hold of some episodes to watch? I've seen most of TNG adnd Voyager, and very little DS9, which is irritating, as it's the one that interests me the most. I know Paramount is showing some at the moment, but that would put me into the middle of it somewhat: is that a problem?
Thanks

Now I love The Next Generation films (With Patrick Stewart) and have no problem with the original Kirk ones but this just is not a star trek film. Its too action packed and that's not what the film or the TV series was about, it was all mysteries and exploration.
In my opinion this film can die in a fire.

Even this film was a big ball of suck, when you put it beside that travesty of a Wolverine movie it would look like a freakin' heart-breaking work of unparalleled genius.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine makes Spiderman 3 look like The Dark Knight.

Star Trek is going to totally rock though, right on its own merits.
There is no other way to describe Woverine like you have. Well done sir.

OT: I will not be going to see this movie. Screw their add campaign, I am sick of their previews.

People, this is THE Star Trek we are talking about here. The single most watched, obsessed about, and longest running sci-fi universe in the world. (well Star Wars fans would disagree, but still...)
I think many Star Wars fans are too ashamed to come out and say they are Star Wars fans cause of this character

I be kidding aight?

This looks to be a good spiritual remake of Star Trek. Kirk is some action boy ladiesman with a chip on his shoulder, Bones is a crotchety smartass, Sulu is an asian action man, and Spock... is Spock.

And they made Liuetenant Uhura hot again, how sweet is that?

Oh, Star Trek DVD's are quite cheap

so this film needs to earn $290mill just to break even? Dont see it doing that at the box office, but maybe will once comes to DVD.
Ah, but then you have to add in the DVD conversion costs, plus the same for BluRay. Factor in the new advertising expenses for both, and the actual cost per disc. That brings us to a nice round figure of $Totally.Fd. And that, boys and girls, is why Paramount charges so f'ing much for Star Trek seasons and films.
Oh, I don't know. Star Trek DVD collections are pretty cheap these days...
I mean, I can get them for £22 where a more typical price for a season of most TV shows is £60 or more... XD.
Locally, any season of Star Trek was $250+ because of the "cult" fandom aspect, until about two years ago when Paramount finally dropped the price. Now, they range from $63-80 per season, depending where I go. $63 for a show over a decade old, where the brand new season of House is only $60, and each season of X-Files, Stargate, Futurama, King of the Hill, Firefly, and Millenium go for $20.
Ouch. All I can say really. Because around here Star Trek is pretty much the cheapest thing going as far as DVD collections go...
And that's irrespective of wether you're talking recent stuff, or rather old series. (Night rider anyone?)

Ah, the joys of regional variation. On the downside, The british pound has traditionally been so strong that DVD's are quite expensive by default.
I mean, an average new release DVD is at least £20, which is a lot, if you look at the exchange rates even now...

Think I've mentioned this before, but I'll be three days dead and buried before I make any movie go/don't-go decisions based on what is said by a person using a "Life Aquatic" avatar. Seriously SSJesus, how could you see anything in that horrific film? It was so bad, it made watching Roseanne Barr waxing her taint seem enjoyable by comparison.
Well, some people get it, some don't. I personally like that type of awkward humor movie. If it was Bill Murray waxing Rosannes taint, I would probably watch that then make an avatar out of it.

But if you think my taste is that bad, I won't really care if you go waste your money on xmen origins.

You should try to see it. If for no other reason than Garak. Gotta be my favorite character in all star trek. The series is pretty episodic up until season 5 or so. If it is before that then just drop in.

Where is a Quantum Leap movie? Now THAT I would pay to see (Though it wouldn't really work)
Al reunites with his estranged wife. Movie Over

(I'd still pay 9 bucks to see it)

Ah yes, Garak. My favorite character in DS9 (not in the entire Star Trek...nothing can compare to Jery Ryan (Seven of Nine) in her tight uniform, NOTHING!). I concur, Garak and Bashir are the most developed personalities in DS9. The uncanny duo.

After watching the whole thing, I think it mostly resembles Babylon 5 (an intended connection from the makers of the series). Full of politics and philosophy. I liked it, but my all time fav is still Voyager. I'm watching the series for the...I dunno... 34th time. :D

Oh yeah. I don't want a BAD series, and probably not one based on the film (even if it's a good film) the continuity was screwed up with Enterprise as it is (but I did like how they explained why Klingons didn't have ridges in TOS)

Damn, I thought everyone but me had forgotten Quantum Leap. That show was fun.
