So, I just watched the Dark Knight today, and saw the Watchmen yesterday. Amd I was thinking "hell I havent made a post in a long time I should make one". So what this is about is:
I noticed that two characters were pretty similar in these films: the Comedian and the Joker.
The Comedian sees humans as they are: savage and ruthless. And he says its all a fucking joke.
And the Joker... well he's far beyond the other guy, but his point is pretty much the same. Oh and they have pretty similar names.
To the point: have you seen films (or played games or read books) that have characters who share similarities?

....One is an anarchist psychopath and the other is a completely immoral cynic.

The Comedian did what he did because it was his job. A job he liked, but he never really considered himself the villain. That and his story is tragic. Also, unlike the joker, he felt remorse for all the things he's done. That's why...
he was crying when he was visiting Molach. All those bottled up emotions, coupled with what he knew was going to happen just broke him.

The Joker does it because he likes chaos. He fully acknowledges he's the bad guy. And his story...well it's not really tragic, because he doesn't have a legitimate back story. Even in the canon of the comic books, the times were they've "revealed" his backstory, even then, he wasn't sure if what he was saying was real, or just something he came up with spur of the moment.

There really isn't as a big a connection as you seem to think.

Almost every FPS hero is a rugged man who fells no emotion.

Coincidence? I think not.

I notice similarities between the Brotherhood of steel (Lyons) and the Dark angels.
And starship troopers 3 And Descent of Angels (again with the dark angels. why are they so popular? :( )
