Hi escapists. I'm a long time lurker, and now, first time topic creator. So be gentle :)

I recently bought the amazing 2002 xbox-title Shrek Super Party for my brother, his girlfriend, myself, the 4th random player and, more importantly, my brothers xbox360. It is probably the most underrated game ever (39,07% [http://www.gamerankings.com/xbox/563087-shrek-super-party/index.html]) because what it does, it does very well. It blew games like Fusion Frenzy 1/2 and Kung Fu Chaos out of the water by actually having good, easy and fair minigames and it remains fun to this day. What it does not do is look good. It looks like crap on my brothers 40-something inch TV.

So now i am in the market for another, newer party game to play with my brother on his comfy couch(TM).

Are they still making those? Are there any good ones? Are the newer Mario Party games any good?

I'm not looking for an electronic board game, but a collection of mini games (possibly strung together on a game board). I'm hope you understand where i'm going. He has all 3 consoles so the platform does not matter. What would you recommend?

Newer Mario Party games are crap, last I heard.

If you've got a Wii though, go for WarioWare: Smooth Moves. Only needs one Wii Remote to play hotseat with up to 12 people.
And if you're not picky, there's tons of other party games for the Wii...and indeed any console... trust me...

I've had a decent time with the newer Mario Party games, actually. MP8, at least. We've gotten more use out of it than the Wii WarioWare (which hasn't gone over anywhere near as well as the GC one with people I've played with) by a large amount, for sure.

Rock Band is a blast once everyone gets just drunk enough to sing karaoke style - especially if you've got a good selection of popular DLC.

Also Wario Ware Smooth Moves. If you're feeling up to it you could line up shots and have each one a penalty for losing a life. (Disclaimer: please drink responsibly, the above suggestion is a parody)

Also, welcome to the escapist!

What i meant was games in the "party-game genre" (Shrek Super Party/Fusion Frenzy/Mario Party), not games to play at a party.

Viva Pinata Party Animals tickled my fancy but it looks like its very focused on the racing part, which will turn my brothers girlfriend off from playing it with us. I will have a look at some more Mario Party 8 gameplay videos.

I second the Warioware Smooth Moves game.

I also kind of like to play that Jenga type game on the Wii, Boom Blox. It's one of the few games we break out every time we visit my brother.

Aw, I thought this would be about a different kind of games...
I have no idea.

But I heartily recommend Cold Hand and Flaming Choc Ice!
Those were created at a party a while ago, funnest party I've ever been to :D

Hells yeah. Its brilliant and I always have fun with it with friends.

However the Mario Party games are quite good, even the newer ones on the Wii are quite fun.

One of the most awesome party games I can think are the Guitar Hero/Rock Band games.

Fusion Frenzy was awesome! I may have to see if I can find a copy - anyone know if it works on the 360?

Um... I remember enjoying one of the Wario-Ware games, but I can't remember which ones...
Mario Party for the N64 was good - haven't played any of the newer ones, I'm afraid.

I had all my friends over for my birthday on the weekend and everyone seemed to enjoy FIFA, whether they were playing or just watching the awesome matches we had.

For drinking games we usually just play the danish version of blackjack, "halv tolv". Its a lot easier to control a maximum of 5 playing cards than a Wii-mote when drunk.

And i'm the only one in my closest friend circle who has played a plastic guitar for more than 5 minutes so i don't think the Rock Band would be a big hit.

My brother has (a) WarioWare and yes its a ton of fun but not really in the party game genre.

I'm afraid it will not. [http://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm] I can recommend Shrek Super Party tho if you are content with the dated graphics. It is a really good game for 4 players. For 1 or 2, not so much.

Also, this. I hate playing FIFA, but when we chuck it on, we all have a mad time. One time we made our own World Cup. Gave up halfway :p
Ahaha, reminds me of the night of the World Cup final this year. We had nothing to do till 4am when the game started over here so we started our own World Cup in the game except we didn't realise that we would have to do all the qualifying matches too so we just said fuck it and gave up right as things were getting interesting. Seriously, an hour of two of qualifying matches is fucking annoying.

Oh my GOD, it is so fun.
I sing like an amputee though, can't hold a note, can't carry a tune. -Bloodhound Gang.

In actual reality i don't think i have the guts to sing in front of a crowd so it would be a waste of money (for me) to go out and buy the kit. I have only ever sung to angry girlfriends and only because my singing is guaranteed to draw laughter not praise.

I have rules for a killer My Little Pony drinking game lying around somewhere. "One for every song", "One every time comical misfortune befalls a woodland creature", that kind of thing. Really you can make 'em up yourself as you go along.

Slightly more OT: Castle Crashers is a hilarious side-scrolling beat-em-up that supports up to 4-player local co-op. Controls are super simple, so just about anyone can jump in & have fun.
