passive aggressive people

I'm extremely angry. Two of my former friends have been taking pot shots at me from afar for the past few months, but they're too cowardly to actually attack me. Like most of the world, they want me dead, but they won't actually get on with it and do something. I'm fed up with it, people ignoring people gets nothing done, whereas if someone attacks, one person loses, one person wins, simple. Then I go on xbox live, mute someone who keeps talking over me for around fifteen minutes, just long enough for me to sort out what I needed to sort out, but no, he mutes me for the forsee-able future.

Let me be clear. I spent the large part of my youth fighting off bullies. I hate it when cowards make it clear they want to attack, but won't do it. I'm fed up of waiting. I know most of the people around me hate me, that's how things have always been, that's how they'll always be, but they're to chicken to do anything about it, I'm sick of always being on red alert.

Anyway, any of you had experiences with weak, cowardly people who do nothing but passive aggressive actions, never actually attacking?

It's alpha vs beta personality really. Alpha people will want to get into a fight then laugh about it over a beer afterwards. Betas will prefer to try and force the situation to resolve itself without being the actual catalyst. I prefer the direct approach myself, but I have seen some incredibly funny passive aggressive actions.

And if it's about Xbox live, I think you're taking a bit of an extreme angle on what they think.

This stands out to me. It sounds like the old debate of "Who hit who first is the culprit." An old thing that Parents and teachers used to settle debates. The fact you are complaining by saying this is that these people are taunting you because they know you won't. We live in a society where that has actually extended to become law, and that's fair enough. We should not be driven down to physical violence by words.

If they're getting under your skin, ignore them. They think you are just as cowardly and pathetic because you will not hit them and they know it, because you do not want to get in trouble.

Calumon: We wish you the best.

This is a very telling statement. There's two choices really;

1) Find a new social circle that doesn't hate you or,
2) Take a hard honest look at yourself and try to understand the reason people hate you.

My mother's old saying "If it's one or two people it's their problem, three or more, it might just be me."

Hur hur, yeah :L

Cowardly, no. I think if this guy were backed into a corner he'd punch his way out. But I don't think that, for all his threats and intimidation, he considers violence a proper solution to his problems.
'This Guy' probably shares my view of talking things out until it's no longer an appropriate method of conflict resolution. Where we differ is that I don't threaten people and, in fact, refuse to cooperate with people who do.
However, 'This Guy' is notorious among his friends for being all talk and no action. Still, if the bastard came unhinged on me it wouldn't be any more surprising than the fuckin' sunrise. I think - being a black belt (it was a long time ago but the essentials are still there and it takes a lot to dull sharp reflexes) - I could stand my own against him if it came to it, but I'm quite proud for having negotiated with him this far.

Can't help but think that if everyone apparently hates you, you 1. Should find new friends 2. Should work on that paranoid personality disorder of yours or 3. Stop giving them reason to hate you?

Also, this image macro.

I've had some experiences with passive aggressive people. I found the "attacking" part pretty hilarious. If by "attacking" you mean "stating their claustrophobia", then yes. My mom used to constantly ask people if they were comfortable, because she didn't want to admit to her claustrophobia. When she was saying "Is everyone comfortable, are you sure?" she meant "I'm uncomfortable, someone give me a way out."

Yeah actually, back in May in school a guy was pissing off..pretty much everyone in my year, particularly my friends and me.
I kicked his ass. =D In the corridor, after he dumped a litre of orange juice over my head. My history teacher broke us up and i would've been suspended had the year not ended, at least that's what a letter said.
Thing was, i didn't mind for a few reasons:
1. The guy was an ABSOLUTE dickhead, to pretty much everyone he could and no-one did anything about it.
2. I walked into English after going to get my knuckle bandaged and my whole class actually applauded. The rest of the day i was shaking guys' hands, and even got hugged twice.
3. Everyone was on my side about it, even one of the priests in my school, funniest point was when he gave me an alcohol swab "Put that on your knuckle so you don't catch something from him", glorious catholic schools...
4. Did i mention he's a dickhead?

I was born hate-able. I'm hideous and I'm retarded, which is reason enough for the entire world to hate you, don't know whether that's always been that way, don't know whether it's just the modern world, but that's the way things work, how they worked in school, how they will always work, no point getting emo about it, every point learning how to live with it. When I got out of that hellhole of a school, I made a promise to myself never to be weak and pathetic again. And I'm sticking to it.

Take the fight to them. I either ignore such people because they won't do shit, or deal with it first and end the problem.

But being passive aggressive is fun and it is always entertaining to watch what happens next
Agreed. Watching the person get in trouble for their inability to control themselves is always funny.

OT: Just get away from these people and/or look at yourself and see why people dislike you.

Attacks? Are we talking blast radius? Because that's the only attack I'd take seriously.

EDIT: My mother is passive aggressive. Yeah. You deal with them by ignoring them.

If passive-aggressive people are cowards, then I suppose we should follow that logic to the opposite end of the spectrum. In other words, time to head out to a local bar, find that one drunken arsehole that deliberately takes offense to everything he hears in order to actively instigate a fight, and commend him on his bravery.
