So tabletop fans might be familiar with the Pathfinder RPG, based on the 3.5 version of DnD.
I think its been known (or at least rumoured) that they are working on getting a MMO made based on the campaign world of Golarion.

Well they have a Kickstarter out to fund a demo to attract investors. I did send a tip to the Escapist thinking it might be something they consider newsworthy (Kickstarter + tabletop RPG + MMOs = winning combo I would have thought) but they might not have felt likewise since I havn't seen any coverage.

Anyways, it sounds like a great idea, I realise there's already been a DnD MMO which doesn't seem to have lived up to its potential, but what do you all think of this one? I've never been able to get into tabletop RPGs due to not having friends interested in it and not wanting to socialise with new people (lame I know) but I've always liked the idea of an incredibly interactive world that can actually change due to player actions.
MMOs are slowly (too slowly) moving towards this goal with quest systems like those in The Old Republic and Guild Wars 2, so do we think a Pathfinder RPG stands a chance of creating a DM/GMless roleplaying experience?

My guess is no. But considering its still quite a long way off I'm really interested in what they will achieve.

It was definitely known. I remember the official announcement from a few months ago.

Actually, I tracked it down it was from about six months ago: https://goblinworks.com/

I didn't know they had a kickstarter but nor do I really care - it's an MMO and Pathfinder - two things I can't really be bothered about. Their plan is pretty ambitious - a sandbox MMO with player driven content. Also, it's basically what World of Darkness Online claims (or claimed?) to have.

That's the most I can say, really. Utter apathy is what I (don't) feel on the subject. I mean, it might be fun or it might not be. Who knows.
