Not mentioned in the review is the fact that embarked unit will now be able to defend themselves like the Songhai UA. Songhai are being given a new UA. Naval units will be able to stack on top of embarked units to protect them. There are also changes being made to how the AI manages diplomacy and build ques for more balanced forces. I suspect AI unit movement will be overhalled as well; at least in regards to naval movement.

Looks awesome!

Is that last picture Haile Selassie?
Sure looks like it, coupled with Addis Ababa clearly flying the Lion of Judah. Yay Ethiopia!
Austria's a little meh, on the other hand.

And it looks like the CN Tower is wonder.
I read somewhere that they were adding nine new civs. So we have Ethiopia, Austria-Hungary, the Celts, the Huns, and Carthage (I think). So that leaves four unknown.
Actually almost all of the new civilizations have been released. The ones you're missing are the Netherlands (leader William of Orange), the Mayans (Janaab Pakal), and Byzantium (Theodora). I think there might only be eight new ones but they're including the DLC Spain and Mongolia civs as well.

Can't wait for this, I burned a lot of hours in Civ 5, will probably burn even more with this.

EDIT: Nevermind there is nine, but only eight have been announced.

Thanks for the info. The "Gods and Kings" Wikipedia page has the leaders and the announced units. I was really pulling for Byzantium to get in the game. Theodora seems like an un-Orthodox choice at first, but I like the idea of more women leaders in Civ 5 (I also like Queen Dido of Carthage). I saw that some of the Civ forums were going ape over the "lack of historical accuracy" but I feel that any game the lets you have Pikemen fight battle tanks jettisons the historical accuracy right out the window.

Or as someone else pointed out, Jihadist France. And the all-time classic, a Jewish fascist Germany in the 1940s. The debates about historical accuracy are mostly just people trying to play historical favourites with leaders and such. I mean, you could argue for hours about why Catherine the Great is the Russian leader rather then Ivan the Terrible or Peter the Great and how each leader influenced their country. Or choosing Selassie over Menelik II. But in the end it just comes down to having a recognizable leader in power. Theodora was probably the most powerful Roman woman ever so it's a fairly logical step.

The expansion indeed looks awesome and as always Civilization games delivers. however....
For example, if you have a spy in Mumbai, he might learn Gandhi is plotting to attack China. That's a valuable piece of intel derived from the AI system itself, and if you then open up a dialogue with China, you have the option to inform Wu Zetian of Gandhi's plans.
will be totally useless in online gaming since you cant predict human plans. then again i mostly play singleplayer anyway :)

I am glad to know that major expansion packs are not dead in the DLC era (and Civ 5 is big on DLC), but there's nothing in this expansion that is really going to cure my Civ fatigue. After playing the games mercilessly for years I've just hit a plateau where every aspect of the game has been impressively tailored to allow for varied playing experience but the AI has stayed exactly the same. It's still stupidly bellicose, demands far more than it should reasonably be able to expect in any real world IR negotiations, disregards previous good dealings at the drop of a hat to side against you, astoundingly predictable on the field of battle, and at higher difficulty levels just flat out buffed in fairly obvious ways.

That and there are still performance issues and graphics bugs they haven't fixed.

Well can you do plots with someone else to attack a faction in mp? Mabey you can detect that or something.

Impressive, but honestly instead of expanding Civ V, I'd prefer it if they would work on making Alpha Centurai II. Sure historical conquest is fun, but so is building huge armies of alien mind worms and watching the little babies grow up into city-pillaging psionic monstrosities (soo cute) :)

Super excited. And I thought it was going to take me forever to get all the Steam achievements BEFORE this add-on...
