I think people are taking this too seriously, I mean it's likely this thing won't kill you.

I'm more concerned about catching the swine flu and falling behind in my university courses (I'd be out for 1 week) then dieing from it.

I currently live in a Swine Flu hotspot in England - we have some of the highest concentrations of the disease anywhere. I know at least 3 people who have had it.
Washington State University in Eastern Washington State had over 1,000 cases (a third of the attendees), just to put your "hotspot" in perspective. Seattle's been hit pretty hard, actually.

Nearly all of the Freshman at my school got it last year after a camp.

H1N1 can't be worse than the B.O. of 60, 000 young males just having left their parents' basements, no?

The risk of swine flu is worth going to your doctor over but not hyperventilating over. I'm in Melbourne, where we had the world's highest concentration of swine flu cases this winter (our winter - and hence our flu season - runs June 'til August). There was originally containment and quarantine, but after we hit about 2000 cases or so in our state they stopped concentrating on containment and focussed on supporting vulnerable demographics. In the end something like 60-70% of flu cases were swine flu.

So don't lose your head about it. I'm not saying there's no risk - I'm not a doctor, and my advice isn't definitive in any way - but unless you're in some sort of vulnerable demographic (pregnant, undergoing chemotherapy, etc.), it's probably not going to be any worse than a temperature for a day or two. Follow whatever advice they're proscribing in the States, but unless the PAX organisers say otherwise, I wouldn't be cancelling trips or anything.

as bad as they claim h1n1 is, it hasn't spread nor killed as many people as the other strains of flu do
yeah really at this time the worry is that since we have no natural immunity too it, it will spread fast, the big worry is that it will mutate to be very deadly but at this time its less deadly then normal flu

Oh no! There's one guy with a case of FLU! Run! Run for your lives!

Seriously, the flu is nothing to get worried about. If you can afford going to PAX, chances are your immune system works properly, since you can also afford pretty good medical care.

My friend got Swine Flu in Turkey, got better without any sort of hospital treatment for five days since she noticed she was ill.

I'm about as worried about Swine Flu as being struck by lightning, hit by a car and covered in acid all at once.
