I've been playing a lot of Payday 2 these past couple weeks, and for the most part, I enjoy it. One thing that really roasts my goat however is all the kicking that goes on.

It seems to me like ANYTHING will get you kicked from the game. Mostly because the game's host has 100% authority, and can kick anyone out at any time. Some reasons I've been kicked or seen others get kicked include:
-Bringing fully upgraded ECMs when the host wants you to bring a level one doctor's bag (Or, having any loadout the host doesn't like)
-Refusing to dupe keycards
-Messing up while attempting to dupe keycards
-Having a low or non-existent infamy level
-Having too high an infamy level, and therefore being a cheater or tryhard
-Telling the host to be more careful with explosives
-Having a new player ask questions
-Having an old player ask questions about a new feature
-Having the host die while attempting to rescue me
-Just to be a dick and rob you of your reward right as you get to the getaway van
-(While it's not technically kicking) Having the host die and not want to wait for a hostage to be freed, so they disconnect and kick everyone out

I just find it really frustrating how this is handled in this game. I'm sick of having to walk on eggshells and do everything the guy with green font says out of fear of losing 30+ minutes of effort. I feel like vote kick and host migration would do wonders for this game.

And, as an unrelated bonus vent, I think it's kinda shitty how you have to pay for DLC weapons/mods/masks, and then do difficult achievements to unlock them. IMHO, it should be more of a "Do a difficult achievement to get the weapon/mod/mask for free, or drop $5 and get them all now" type thing.

Personally, I don't play unless I know who I'm playing with. Games that require teamwork like Payday 2 are games that I never play with strangers.

Now granted, that means I don't get to play very often but I find playing with strangers in co-op type games is a good way to get incredibly frustrated. You can get lucky every once in a while (although I'm on console so maybe it's better on PC but I find people are people no matter where you play) but I find it's too big of a pain in the ass to find a group worth playing with.

I've heard this story or ones like it countless times in all sorts of games, i remember a video animation on youtube lampooning terrible admin wrath in one of the battlefield games.

*Edit* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Zu-Yku9I8U Video is a little NSFW swearing an so on.

You can see the amount of truth behind the satire.

Somtimes even vote kicking doesnt work as intended though, my own personal example is from WoW in one of the five man dungeons, i ended up in a group with tank and healer from the same guild, and three random DPS me being one of them, during the very first encounter against a few mobs everyone but the tank and healer died, i jokingly said somthing like "ok lets go again this time with some healing" that was apparently enough to earn the ire of the player who then refused to heal me during all the fights from that point onwards, but even with one less person to focus on the other two DPS were still routinely dieing. Eventualy i got a little pissed at the constant death's and the mocking responses of the pair and said let me swap to my healing gear i can do a better job, this apparently was cause to vote kick me from the group.

The tank and healer both had raid level gear so they should have been more than capeable of a five man without trouble, i can only assume based on their attitudes at the time they just didn't give a shit and were intentionaly fucking up to troll other players.

I re-queued and was back in after a few mins and that second run without the dipshit duo was perfect. My second group was far less well equiped in high level items but the players were much better people and we had a blast, scored some upgrades for the tank and left with a smile.

Point being no system is perfect all are open to abuse, being able to report such behaviour is realy all you can do, shame some games dont even allow for that. Unless you play with friends or are actualy in the same room as somone else while playing any kind of multiplayer eventualy your gonna come across some douchebag and have problems.

These are among the reasons I love EVE Online so much, when you get dickheads like this you can just gank them <3.

Have you considered hosting heists yourself? It would remove the issue of being kicked by idiots.

If you fancy playing some easy going heists, feel free to add me on Steam. I pay normal or hard, don't care about your levels our whatever, just that we have fun. I'm also mastermind, so medic bags are my thing. :)

I'm sad to hear you've had so much bad luck with other players. I'm lucky to have friends to play with so we always get on, help each other, complement each other's playstyles and loadouts and the knowledge that there won't be any kicking or impatience. If you want a game sometime, let me know and as long as I'm Hoxton, anything goes!

This is the exact reason why I stopped playing Payday 2. Out of all the multiplayer games I've played, Payday 2's community is the worst.

I personally experienced the following multiple times
- getting kicked from the lobby, probably something to do with my rank (although I put 37 hours in so I was around the 70's).
- when I dared to say "let's just play normally" after about 10 failed attempts at stealth (which were not my fault).
- 5 seconds before the end of a successful heist, because the host just wanted to be a dick.

I quickly decided "you know what, instead of wasting my time here, there are dozens of other fun games I can play".

I guess I can consider myself lucky then.
I've had a few sour encounters with people instantly kicking me or incompetent mouth breathing twatwaffles who consequently fuck things up for everyone else, but most of the time I seem to find a group of people who know what they're doing and are patient enough to keep trying after a few failed attempts.

I must admit though, the most annoying thing ever is the one or two times I've been kicked right before making it to the van. There ought to be a minor "group boost" that increases reward dependant of how many non-A.I. players are in your game to discourage that. A vote kick and host migration function would also be welcome features.

Isn't that the crew alive bonus?

OT: Read the payday 2 steam forums and they know it too, some people can just be dicks. The advice is always the same: host your own game, or play with friends. Though since I don't know anyone else to play with I've been playing pubs, and I rarely have this problem. I don't know whether it's the people playing in this side of the world or if I'm just lucky though.

I haven't experienced these issues after several years of playing Payday 2. At least not on the frequency that you seem to be suggesting. I've been kicked a few times for unknown reasons, but it's hardly the normal situation. Most matches go just fine, and we all do our part and clear the heist. I think you're just running into some bad luck there, for which I'm sorry.

Though I do have a funny experience with your example of being kicked for having a high Infamy rating, and thus "cheating". It was around December 2014, and I was playing that "White Christmas" mission for the season with a pug. We were about 3 minutes into the mission, and this one guy starts shit talking me "Dude, you're a fucking hacker, and I know this." Since I'm not a hacker, and will drop from matches where I see someone obviously hacking, I was puzzled by this random declaration. "Oh really? Why do you say that?" "Because of your Infamy rank! There's no way you have that rank without hacking!" *blink* "Uh, yeah man, whatever, it's totally doable to get this rank with regular play." "Dude! There's no such rank as Infamy 6!" "....dude...it's Infamy 4...learn your roman numerals before you open your mouth like a dick" "...mah bad bro" xD

Once you get some heist experience and infamy under your belt, your tolerance for nonsense from green heisters does plummet because they can *really* slow a heist down or bring it to a fruitless yet sticky end.

There's been Shadow Raids I've done (requiring consistent, near-flawless stealth from all players for there to be any reward) in which I've patiently endured successions of new players entering the game - blundering - and leaving without a word, to the effect of restarting over and over for the better part of an hour with no reward.

Then there's the lvl 35s showing up in the lobby of brutal gauntlets - like higher difficulty hoxton breakout or hotline miami - insisting that they do them all the time and that their half-baked dodge build is totes legit when even the experience they don't have couldn't save them or you from getting curb-stomped before the second road block. Apologies to non-payday players, heisters know what I'm talking about.

These people are ill-equipped and want you to prove that you can't carry them - every time.

I sometimes explain to people why they've got the wrong game, the wrong time or the wrong gear, but finding new games is so easy and wrangling with belligerent strangers so tiresome that a short sharp kick is a remarkably appealing solution which really doesn't feel so wrong at all.

It would help if there were half decent bots so you could practice and level up a bit before going online.

That's why I only host or play with friends who are hosting.

You can't get kicked when you're the one hosting. Eventually, you'll find a few people you absolutely enjoy playing with, you'll friend each other, and then you'll take yourself off the public radar entirely because you only play with friends. This game is superduper fun when played with friends who know their stuff, and you're struggling with thoughtless mistakes or the game being a dick, compared to general ineptitude or your crew not coordinating.

The community really isn't bad. They stealth community is not very forgiving of mistakes, mind you, but the loud community understands that it generally isn't one person's fault when a crew fails -- because really, one person can hold out by themselves on a DW wave until the hostage trades come in. I've met some very fun people, a lot of extremely quiet people who took their win and left, and a few dicks or plain uncooperative people who get the boot fairly quickly.

I can tolerate dicks. Me and the people I play with are high infamy levels, and usually they listen to us when we say not to worry about someone not taking Judge/Car-4 Mustard Race, or going into a heist with all four of us running dodge builds. Noobies are fun because they're extremely cooperative and eager to continue playing with a good crew, even if they're the type of people who fully spec out in Ghost, run CTV and a suppressed Kobus to a loud-only mission, and use all their ammo to only get twelve kills.

Uncooperative people are what gets to us the most. When it's the end of a heist, we're all moving bags or running on the escape zone, don't lag back to repair a drill to the security room. Unless you pick up Gage Courier Packs, because we're all guilty of ruining someone's day to pick up some of that Purple Snake.

You forgot to list "Someone else fucks up the stealth, so you get the blame".
That's got to be one of my favourites. I don't bother with Payday 2 now unless I'm playing with friends.

Yeah I've had very little issue with the community, even in randoms. This is a Payday 1 story, but I personally find it applies in PD 2 as well. I joined a stealth run of a mission, I forget the name of it, but it involved dressing up as maintenance guys and crashing this dudes party in his house to break into his panic room. You can run a long amount of it stealth if you can control the civilians and stay indoors, so the neighbors don't call the cops. I'd only done it a few times, but never as stealth, so I joined. The guy on chat was like "ok, so do you know how to do this stealth?" and I typed out "No, but I am very good at following instructions" he chuckled and said "ok, that's good, we can totally work with that." And then he proceeded to explain my portion of the mission, and it went fine.

I've done similar things with new heisters, explaining the stealth routine, and what to look for, it's not a big deal really. I mean if you're doing a Bank Heist, and you've got 3 minutes of wait time on the drill, nothing else to do but try and put a body bag on the rotating sign, or explain the trick to doing a stealth run of that map. Most players are pretty cool in my experience, it's one of the reasons I like PD 2 so much. Compared to competitive shooter games, I find the coop oriented games to have a more laid back player base. Sure it's not 100% chill, but it seems to be much higher percentage of chilled people.

Kick abuse happens all the time in online games, sometimes justified (offline, harassment, won't follow tactics) but others can be undeserved, usually in most games it doesn't happen often if you do your job to reasonable effect, but I know there are people who are way to stingy.

Such as people on FFXIV
Shiva Farm/No 100 Sol/1 fail = kick/100 sol message = disband/If the boss looks at you funny = kick/Breathing = kick/any DPS caught doing damage = kick
Joins Shiva Farm no 100 Sol no fail 1 fail = kick

Party leader immediately eats icebrand.

Vote dismisses party leader.

Lulzy whispers ensue.

Used to play, but only with friends... And only up to the point where began to feel like a pointless grind. Also... Cloakers suck and were a shitty addition.

Add me to the "Pubs = Shitlord Central; Play with friends/known instead" crowd.
Then again, I'm also kinda tired of every heist being either Techforcer Shotgun Party, or ECM Rush.
...Or Hoxton Breakout exp grinding. Ugh..

Your first mistake is playing with randoms. They're fine if it's just one and you're playing with two other people you know and can communicate with, but anymore than one and shit falls apart. Personally, I just flatout refuse to play the game unless I have at least two friends to play with, otherwise I'm relaying on the gaming gods to sent a couple of smart randoms my way.

I can't really comment on the kicking because it doesn't really happen when playing with friends, but people can be dicks and with the host vote kick system it's going to happen often, but that's the same for any game. For the record though, you can set up a lobby to utilize a vote kick system, but no one ever picks it.

If you want more mods, just do what I do and hack. Takes 10 minutes to install the hack, go to the main menu, give myself 100 of every mod in the game, then exit and unistall. You may think it's cheap, but the random chance system Payday has for weapon mods is pure idiocy, so I don't feel like fucking around with it.
