Hey guys, now that Payday 2 has been out for about a week I am interested in knowing your opinions on the game. Managed to pull off the ultimate heist? Or do all of yours fall apart (like all of mine lol)?

I am thoroughly enjoying it so far and look forward to putting many more hours into the game. I do have some minor issues with the game (though I believe some lessen as you level up). My only gripes would be I get disconnected fairly frequently (hopefully fixed soon), some things take forever to do (locks) and the cops can take a lot of bullets to kill (guess I'm too used to enemies in other games going down easier lol).

So, what do you think of Payday 2?

Also, if you're in Aus or near by and feel like having an attempt at a stealthy heist feel free to add me on steam.

I think it's great, had a blast.
It's a bit hard to get use to and there's a lot to learn, most of which comes from your failures (like learning to answer the pagers when you take down a guard so the alarm doesn't sound) but it feels amazing when you pull off each heist.

The best feeling though is pulling off a full stealth mission on a pub match. Never would have thought that would happen, an overkill jewelry mission and we pulled it off, a bunch of random peeps without a single mike between us. It's like the feeling you get from completing "Journey".

I played my first two missions about a couple days ago with some friends and I was a little underwhelmed.

Basically, we ended up just hiding behind things and shooting at police until the drill finished opening the safe or the security system was overwritten and we could take our loot and leave.

It didn't help that for some reason he put the game on easy or normal or something so the police really didn't do anything but keep jumping in the window that I was aiming at.

I do plan on keeping with it, though. Maybe it'll surprise me.

I think it's a cool game. Most of the issues I had with the first game were ironed out `or at least shoved to the side more, for the most part. It's a rush.

It is pretty much still "wait for the drill then go to van", but there are most of the time faster and/or even higher paying ways to go about it, depending on your build and team. Completely stealthing a heist, hoo, that rush.

This can make it easy to farm and a slightly repetitive, though. Still, I guess it's a good kind of easy, one that I feel like I earned.

The RNG unlock system is annoying, though, to say the least. Get mods for guns you don't even like, overpriced masks when you need extra cash, etc. Makes it addicting, though, I guess. Yay.

There's also been some technical issues for me, things like some small crashes and mouse lag. Mefeels the game was a tad rushed out the door as far as optimization goes.

Overall, though, it definitely does improve on that Bank Robber feel they were going for.

I haven't bought/played it, but I've been considering it.

On that note, I have some questions:

- Does the game allow you to play co-op with random people. As in, can you just join a matchmaking queue and find three other people?

- If so, are there in-game voice comms? By which I mean, can you talk to other players without using an outside program like Mumble or Skype?

Incidentally, I am from Aus and I certainly wouldn't mind a match if I was to buy the game. So long as you didn't mind having by no doubt utterly noobish self along.

I can answer your questions.

1- Yep, that's how I've been playing so far. The matchmaker shows different jobs that you can choose and it shows the type of job (some have multiple "phases"), how many people are already playing, how much it's worth and what difficulty level it's on.

2- I think so. So far I haven't encountered any people who talk (I'm still trying to find my old mic), seems to be an Aus thing lol

And sure, everyone needs to start somewhere!

I have heard people talking in-game. Granted not many and there's never more than one so it's a tragic case of that one guy giving commands to himself :(

I suppose there's a push to talk button. Everyone must use Skype or something instead.

OT: I really like it. I play the proper bank heist mission on various difficulties and fuck all else. I mean, isn't that the entire point of the game? Robbing banks? All the door locations get randomised a little bit each time while the overall map layout stays the same which helps keep things fresh.

That randomness also leads to there being a fucking second fucking door after drilling the vault open. 9/10 times it is open and you grab the cash and leave. That 1/10 times though... Gotta love starting a new drill from scratch while the police don't let up an inch right?

Also there's always that one greedy bellend who stays behind opening every extra deposit box in the world.

(Basically, you have a loada money on the table which you pick up and run with. There are deposit boxes on the walls you can pick open for extra money, you can put 2+2 together...)
