So at work our Christmas themes are displayed by "The wonderful world of Christmas" with each bauble and decoration sorted into colours etc by theme of countries/places/etc from around the world. Now one of these themes (Thailand I think) had a large Buddha statue in it with a kind of gold and silver design for the theme.
But in a fortnight we've had a couple of complaints about this as "Buddha doesn't have anything to do with Christmas" "Christmas should be about Jesus" and how it offends them and yadda yadda yadda. Anyway, due to the complaints the manager has chosen to remove the large buddha statue so it doesn't cause any more hassle.
I was wondering what everyone else thought of this, me and a few of my collegues were talking about it and we think that it was wrong to remove it. This country (UK) isn't a 100% Christian country anyway, other people are entitled to their beliefs, and it's really not hurting anyone. I mean I'm an Athiest and I didn't complain when I had to spend hours a day working to put the Christmas stuff out, or when I sell it (except prehaps when it involves glitter, that stuff hould be banned!) Plus, half the stuff we sell that is assosiated with Christmas doesn't have the slightest thing to do with Jesus or a religion, such as miniture villages, or stupid glittery leafy things, so what harm could a statue of Buddha cause?

Last time I checked, miniature villages weren't the symbol of a major religion that isn't Christianity.

Seems fair, for the same reason putting up Halloween decorations would be inappropriate.
