I am looking into buy a PC game controller, anyone know which ones are the best and work with most games? I just like the controller setup for games like PoP and prototype and since I dont have a 360, I'd rather just get a controller. Any help?

You can use 360 controllers with your computer... no 360 required. It just depends on whether you get a wireless or wired one.

Logitech Dual Action is awesome. I use it and it hasn't failed me even once.

Played Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia, Rayman 3 and Jade Empire on it. Worked great.

Also I tried HAWX demo, I had to redefine few buttons, but worked just as well.

360 controllers work with them, wired one's are easier because you just need drivers for them (PS3 controllers work to btw).

Emulator with a keyboard = total crap

Emulator with a 360 controller = bliss

GJ with blanket slating however.

Emulator with a keyboard = total crap? Isn't that blanket slating yourself?

That said, I do use a 360 controller for most emulation (d-pad doesn't quite cut it with things like Contra). It's more or less why I bought it.

Good point, although he probably wasn't aiming for that after mentioning PoP and Prototype.

Maybe he enjoys not looking like an elitist jackass?

The 360 Controller's been lovely with every game I've tried it on, but I've only used the wired controller. I can't imagine the wireless one would be much different, of course.

I second the recommendation for Logitech Dual Action.

Thanks I thought it was something rational.
Yes. <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CSAcdFkNFc&feature=related>Because there can't possibly be a game <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCOaNKe73RE>where keyboards suck worse than a broken Dirt Devil.

Actually, while that's certainly true for such games as FPS and strategy (believe me, I love mouse and keyboard as much as the next guy), but I've also got a 360 Controller hooked up to my PC for one very important reason:

It allows gradual movement. With a keyboard you must either turn/walk fully or not at all. With a controller (in games such as Assassin's Creed or Trackmania) you are able to make gradual movements, making for smoother, more precise movements with some games.

Yea I recently bought saints row 2 for pc, and while I love mouse and keyboard, the game really needs a controller. You can't even use the mouse for selecting things on the menus, you need to use the arrow keys and the enter button which is a pain.

so the general consensus would be 360 controller wired or logitech dual action? Which of the two is easier to set up and is compatible with most games?

360 controller(if you use windows) is the easiest. Insert the thing, windows detects it, installs the proper driver and you're ready to play.

The 360 controller is guaranteed to work with a "Games for Windows" title, if that title is said to have controller support.(basically every game, perhaps the strategy titles are an exception) Other games that support controllers should accept it.

I bought myself a 360 controller which you just need to plug in and its a go for most games, especially those which are console ports/multi-platform releases as the controller configue in the game is the same used on the console version. The only games I've had trouble are Crysis because it wouldn't let me set my keyboard and mouse as the primary control option and so had to unplug it, and the older PoP games but I think thats more to bad porting/coding rather then the controller.
