2 days ago my pc worked just fine. started up normally, could do what i always do like surfing the usual websites and play games from steam. yesterday i did not use the computer at all and today i want to turn on, and i have no screen and the fans of my r9 290x from asus, are running on max. every component is running. all the fans from the PSU, CPU and case are running but no screen what so ever. there are also no peeping sounds either.

after turning it off by holding the power button, the computer just starts up for a second, turns it self off again and after 3 seconds it starts up again and stays on like this for a long time. but after around 20 to 30seconds, it turns off again and 3 secs later back on again. all with no beeping sounds or a display. i have checked the cables and made sure everything is connected. unfortunately i have no other components or even the tools to find out what is going on here.

my HW:
intel i7 4970 CPU
asrock z97 killer motherboard
asus r9 290x GPU
16 GB RAM
Win 7 64 bit

not sure about the brand of my PSU but i know it can supply my hardware since a shop checked after installing the named HW ruffly 4 months ago.

if anyone knows how i can resolve this aggravating issue, i would love to hear about it. otherwise i have to see the shop since the HW is still under warranty.

Check the memory and GPU is seated properly. If there is still a problem pull the GPU and plug your monitor into the onboard graphics card, there is an output on your motherboard. If its still not working pull the memory and try each stick one by one.

So it was assembled at the shop? Then you should ask them. You probably have to take it back for repairs.

If that was my computer, I'd open the case and check the motherboard for any error codes. And of course make sure that all cables are connected and all fans are spinning etc. If that didn't help, I'd reseat/move/remove (some of) the RAM sticks and other components. I'd reset the BIOS either via jumpers or by removing the battery. But you shouldn't risk it unless you assembled it yourself.

all the fans are running fine. especially that of the GPU that are running on full power. also tried to connect the monitor on to the MB but the screen was still black and the computer kept switching on and off by it self. i tried to google for this problem and some sites suggested that it its the PSU.
havent tried the RAM stuff yet. didnt really think of it since the pc keeps turning it self on and off once i press the start button. could the ram really make such a fuzz to the entire hardware like the GPU that its fans are running on full speed once i press the button? this was never the case.

but yes, if this really doesnt resolve the issue, then i bring it to the shop since they have installed the entire HW and also installed win back on for me as well.

edit:
well, i'll be damned. i took out 2 of the ram sticks (which are actually a different brand) and now my pc started up normally and works so far fine. this at least saves me the trouble to pack up my pc and go to the shop which isnt really located at a convenient place.
thanks guys for helping me out. saved me a lot of trouble and time.will confront the shop and request to give me either 2 of the same ram sticks i originally use or 2 more of the new once they have build in.
the once they gave me are from kingston.

The two most common reasons for booting to freeze is a duff or improperly seated GPU or duff or improperly seated RAM.

Yup, I'd agree with that. From my experience, the RAM is a more common issue: I've had the PC boot up with the video card being slightly wonky and then fail at a later point (usually when it tries to use the video card) - that one is pretty annoying, at least with the RAM it usually just dies pretty much as it goes in the booting process.

i dont believe it. now again my pc doesnt start up as it should. when i tried the method you guys told me earlier, it worked. this morning, it started up normally too and could do my usual stuff, and also playing that new indie game: mind path of thalamus.
got it on saturday when it was on special and it worked fine. this morning i played it as well. turned off the computer as always, this afternoon i want to check up on something, and again has no screen and my GPUs fans run on full speed when i start up my pc. again i tried out the ram but did not work at all. installed the new once only, put all of them back in, used the old once only. nothing worked. pc just keeps turning on and off again.

call me crazy but i think this has something to do with that game. before that, no issues. now after playing this game, issues. had a problem as well last year that a game broke my GPU. how i think it was the case? because wile playing it, i had some weird flickering and wobbling and also in win it self when i exit the game. then one day, the whole screen turned all colourly and could not do anything with my pc. shop told me that my GPU was busted and needed a new one.
now i also think that this new game is the cause since before that i had no issues what so ever.

Three seconds seems shorter than usual to get into the operating system, so this probably isn't it, but can you access the boot menu, safe mode or anything like that? If by some chance you can get into recovery mode you could at least rule out the possibility of it being the game by jumping back to a system restore point from before you installed the game (provided you have regular system restore points).

i think you misunderstood. it doesnt even go in to win at all. i cant access anything because it doesnt even show anything on the screen.

but it has to be the game because since i havent touched it, my pc keeps booting up normally (after removing and adding my RAM sticks again). played any of the other games like MGS5, did all the usual things i always do and my pc started up the next time as it should. but once i have played "mind", then my pc didnt start up the next time.
i have got a refund for it and since then no problems what so ever. so it must be the game that caused this serious aggravation.

I can't be 100% sure, but it doesn't sound like a software problem.

Have you tested the RAM? I use Prime95, Heaven and HWINFO for testing stability. There are programs that run from a bootable device that are designed specifically for stressing RAM. It could be a problem with the motherboard (bent socket pins can cause all sorts of weird problems) or PSU.

my pc started up normally since i havent touched the game. well, cant anyway since i have gotten my refund. and yes, i did play around with my RAM and none of them started up my pc after the second time and third time. and 2 of them are new. not even 6 months old. so as the MB.
before that, no screen and shutting its self on and off after playing this game. did not play the game, pc starts up normally.
HW would be weird since the GPU, 2 RAM sticks and the PSU are over a year old. the rest, just few months ago.

i know it sounds weird but since i have not touched the game, no problems. never heard of the programs for testing RAM. might give it a try if i should encounter such a weird problem again.
