When you say you will trade you TF2 for the PC version will you gat the ORang box or just TF2. Orange Box gives you HL2 as which is a good game and Portal.
Ya, probably, unless the Orange Box costs much more. I've already played Half Life 2 and Portal on the Xbox, and I'm already done with them for the most part.
I usually see the Orange Box now for $30. By the way, don't buy it used. You won't be able to play it because it will have already been linked to someone else's Steam account.
Thanks for the tip. I probably wouldn't buy it anyway. I've heard too many stories about broken CDs from Gamestop.

Modern Warfare 1 and 2, Borderlands and Fallout 3 are all decent PC FPS's (well, I'm guessing about Modern Warfare 2, but I'd imagine the storyline will be as awesome as the first one, and the multiplayer is addictive in the extreme.)

Other recomendations (based on taste) are... Vampire The Masquerade : Bloodlines (Far more of an RPG than a Shooter, but first person and done really, really well), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : Shadow of Chernobyl (Great game, but spectacularly hard, even on easy) Unreal (The first one. Still a great game, but avoid if you like your graphics)

What FPS games should I get for my PC? I have TF2 for Xbox, and I'm going to trade it in for a PC version, but are there any others that are good? I might try CoD4 or Counterstrike, but I'm not sure. Keep in mind I haven't played an FPS on my computer since Chex Quest.
Save up a hundred dollars. Get the Valve Complete pack off steam (wait until l4d2 has come out first).

Half Life + expansions (Blue shift/ OpFor)
Half Life 2 + Episodes 1/2
Portal
TFC/TF2
Day of Defeat/DoD:S
Counter Strike/CS:S/Condition Zero/Deleted scenes
Ricochet
Left 4 Dead (maybe Left 4 Dead 2, they might not add it to the complete pack straight away, but they did with L4D 1)

On the one hand it's a hundred bucks and quite a lot of money, on the other look at the number of games you get.

Otherwise look at Battlefield 2 (avoid 2142), CoD 4 if you can get a physical copy cheap (still expensive on Steam) and also Bioshock is worht a punt. More oldschool titles like Unreal Tournament/2k4, Quake 3 and System Shock 2 are also well worth it if you don't mind the graphics and putting in the effort to play them.

Lastly, TF2 on PC is a step up from TF2 console in player skill as well as content, I learnt this this in suitably brutal manner. All the source games are pretty unforgiving to new players, you will spend a good three weeks getting your face handed to you, after they push it through your arse.

If you have a good computer, then Crysis Wars is fun, and it has a decent amount of people playing.
I really wouldn't know, though. I'm not much of a multiplayer person.
Borderlands looks good though, and UT3 still pulls in a nice crowd.

Counter-Strike: Source
TF2 of course

people still playing? COD4 still has a healthy following, but Modern Warfare 2 will drag many of them away I think.

L4D and L4D2 will both have a good following for a while, despite the hullabaloo boycott that ended recently.

I still like UT2004, but games for that aren't very common anymore.

IF all you want is multiplayer, then download Combat Arms. Free game from Nexon.

I got tons of single player, but not many Multiplayer.

Crysis!
if your PC can run it...

wow, almost all my posts on threads about PC have boiled down to Crysis love...

anyway, Crysis, Bioshock, Fallout3,
Fallout 3 is real nice, because you can squeeze a lot of hours out of it.

Multiplayer?

You're looking for multiplayer?

Well, TF2! There ya go!

Or maybe Quake Live? But if you're looking to just "join a game and play it" I doubt you'd put up with Quake's learning curve. It does have a skill-matching system that doesn't really work well, but whatever.

UT2K4 still has plenty of people playing, but you'd probably have to download mods to experience it the best. Same with pretty much anything else I can think of. But yeah, CS1.6 and Source have big followings, but doesn't everything? Hell, Tribes 2 is still played to a point, but if you only wanna play something that "everyone is playing" go with a call of duty or whatever.

All Quakes, Unreals, Half-Life, Deus Ex, Counter-Strike, TFC/TF2, Systemshocks (Bioshock if you want a softer version with better graphics), Portal, Doom, Battlefield 1942,2,2142 and yeah there are a few FPS.

EDIT
Oh yeah and Crysis, STALKER and CoD (all the way to 4:MW) DO NOT get MW2. Seriously. It would be a crime against online gaming.

Does Counter-strike still have a large fan-base that makes it easy to join a game?

It's difficult to believe that CS would still have one of the largest FPS communities after so many years, but it does.
Get a Source engine game (Half-Life 2 would be best, but if you want to do that, you might as well get the Orange Box). Then you could download the vast array of single player and multiplayer source mods.

Unreal Tournament 2004. That game (despite being 5 years old) is a really fun fast paced game with people STILL online.
