Before anyone points it out, yes this is pretty much a 'pc gamer only' thing. Kind of obvious.
No that does not make it elite-ism. Let's just not get into that...

Also I wanted to ask the question to those who might know, was SandyBridge really worth it? I got my rig literally the day SB came out but avoided getting it. Sort of a good thing really since they had to be recalled soon after and my computer didn't suffer.

And because we hardware nerds love our specifics;

Video: AMD 6950
CPU: Intel i5 @ 760
Memory: 4 GB Corsair XM3 (1600)
Power Sup: 850w Corsair
Motherboard: Asus 975...something.
Case: HAF 922

I've heard nothing but good things about SB, though I don't have one myself so no hands-on experience. As good as they sound though I won't be upgrading for a while; I'm quite happy with my first gen core i7.

Video: GTX 480 with zalman VF3000F cooler (for anyone with a stock 480, I highly recommend getting this or a different aftermarket cooler. This one cuts temperature by 20-25 degrees under stress, and operates a whole lot quieter than the stock fan);
CPU: Core i7 920 @ 4Ghz, cooled by Scythe Mugen 2 rev B, soon to be replaced by Megahalem rev B with two CM Excalibur fans in push-pull;
Memory: 3x4Gb Corsair Dominator @ ~1530Mhz;
PSU: Corsair 750TX;
Mobo: Asus P6T deluxe V2;
Case: Antec 600 with CM R4 fans (yes, I realise I'm the only person in the world who actually likes how this case looks);
HDD: Samsung 103SJ, soon to be complemented by a OCZ Vertex 3 for OS and such;
Sound: Echo Audiofire 2.

Well usually the tower sits up straight so the narrow unfinished end is pressed to the ground and-wait, what's that, its was an idiom... ugh...

My PC is about the same as what you have, give or take a few model numbers and using Nvidia and Intel.
