Manditory recommendation of Audiosurf goes here. Especially if you have a collection of fast pased music. Plus, TrackMania. At the very least download Nations Forever, it's a fun free racer and gives you a good idea of what the full game is like. It includes a fully-featured track editor and online play with United owners (but only on Nations servers, obviously). If you like that, then do invest in United Forever. It gives you a hell of a lot more for your money, and is well worth it in my opinion. Do note that *I think* the Steam version is several patches behind and is without the recent community expansion pack. Or the 3D glasses (obviously).
I happen to own Audiosurf and I will be checking out TrackMania.

Go get Haegemonia: Legions of Iron (but not the Solon heritage), it's like Homeword but good! Haha.

Evil Genius and 1701 A.D. will both pass some time, but arn't amazing.

King Arthur - the Role Playing Wargame, is good for 2 or 3 playthroughs, think Total War with story missions and magic.

Haegemonia: Legions of Iron looks pretty damn epic. I've played both Evil Genius and 1701 A.D. and they are exactly as you've stated. I'll look into King Arthur as well.

I've recommended so many people Haegemonia, they all love it, has a good story and the levels are huge and well detailed, leaving capaign missions to taking upto 2 hours or in some cases longer, as are each and every ship. Only problem is it can be very hard to come by.

Play Mafia.

It's the greatest game ever made, and you'll never feel the need to play anything else ever again.

Except Mafia 2 when it comes out.

It's a bit old but try Mechwarrior 4.
Played that one, enjoyed it.

Mech commander is one of my favourite RTS games, and I play a lot of them. It's just that pleasing.
I haven't tried those, I'll look into it.

Just remembered Arcanum, try that. Imagine Baldur's gate set in a steampunk victorian world with magic.
I fuckin' love Arcanum.

Sam & Max must be said alot but i <3. Or Stalker.
I've never tried the Sam & Max games, I, for some reason, thought they were just some CGI Cartoon or something. I love the STALKER games as well.

I concur, Sam and Max, Tales of Monkey Island, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People... Any game made by Telltale games is great if you like Adventure games!

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Both RPGs

And thank you, I'm getting as much out of this thread as you are.

Figured I'd add some games to my own thread, just in case other people are checking to look for games out of the ordinary.

Beyond Good and Evil is a good, only sucks that I haven't been able to get it to work with Windows 7 64-bit, might just have to re-buy it through Steam. American McGee's Alice is also another good one.

Torchlight's good if you can't wait for Diablo 3, though if you're the min/maxing type you'll find some of the mechanics are buggy. Don't even bother dual wielding unless you're the warrior for instance since it doesn't increase damage at all (the warrior is the only one with attacks that specifically use both weapons).

Thanks for the heads up.

I've played most of the Total War series. Killing Floor and Shattered Horizons I've been a little hesitant on trying out, but will give them a try. X3:Reunion is another game I've seen before but never really tried, I'll be sure to now.

Thrine, The Movies, and the Baulder's Gate / Icewind Dale games I own and have played. Rollercoaster Tycoon, actually now that I think about it, I haven't played at all.

Also, I'll look into Tripwire Interactive.
Shattered Horizon is an amazing game, and it's free to play on Steam until noonish tomorrow (6/5/2010). I definitely recommend checking it out. If you've ever read Ender's Game, it's basically how I envision fights in the Battle Room play out.

I'm a huge fan of Troika's games, I happen to have all those and they are ranked up there with some of my favorites.

Sacrifice isn't bad, and IMHO Star Wars Battlefront 2 is still worth playing. Other than that I can recommend pretty much every Blizzard game to date, although you probably already knew of those. Umm...Audiosurf is great if you're looking for a Guitar Hero-type game which uses your own MP3s for the soundtrack.
Agree with the SWBF2. I've seen Sacrifce here and there, just wasn't sure if it was worth trying.

Definintly enjoy the DoW games. I've heard of the Kings Bounty games, but have yet to try any of them. I'll look into the others as well.

I completely forgot that game even existed, I'll look into it.

The Zoombinis! It's an educational game except it's not annoying. You have to help the Zoombinis escape oppression by guiding them across the countryside, solving logic puzzles along the way. There are trolls who won't let them pass until you make the correct pizza for them, throwing bees at Fleens, and finding the proper hotel arrangements for the group. I heartily recommend it.

Well, that wasn't what I was expecting, haha. Reminds me of elementary school when I'd play The Secret Island of Dr. Quandary.

*shrug* Logic translates more easily across skill levels, mostly because it's not really taught in school. Thinks like the Magic School Bus games or Math Blaster are pretty age specific, but you can enjoy and be challenged by Zoombinis no matter how old you are.

Sounds good, I'll look into it with every other game everyone on here has told me about; I should be set for a month or so.
