RTS: StarCraft 2, It's got decent singleplayer.

FPS: Crysis: Visually pleasing.

Left 4 Dead 2 and Team Fortress 2... and if your computer can run it, Crysis is pretty fun but it's really all about the visuals.

well in the reviews for the laptop it says it can run crysis well so i cant wait to see if all the talk about its graphics is true.

Also a quick question on left 4 dead 2, i vaguely remember yahtzee saying you could play as a zombie? could be a different game though.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
dawn of war series, company of heroes series, world in conflict, star wars empire at war, thoes are some good rts

border lands is decent, bad company 2 for really good multi player, the bioshock series are good altho the pc ports tend to be lazy as hell, cant go wrong with oblivion or fallout 3

oh and buy kings bounty, it kicks ass

Well here's a screenshot.

So yeah... The graphics are ridiculous.

As for Left 4 Dead 2, there's a special game mode where you play as the special infected and try to take down another group of players playing as the survivors.

As for my recommendation, I would say a few of the Elder Scrolls games. Oblivion is really good, and I hear you can get graphics mods for Morrowind to make the graphics as good as Oblivion.

Mafia 2 when it comes out.

And Team Fortress 2 (Might as well get the orange box, you get portal as well).

Either Fallout 3 or Dragon Age Origins.

The thing with Crysis is that in an attempt to make it seem like it was too good for your computer, sometimes the game will chug when you try to run it on Very High. It has nothing to do with my computer considering I surpass even the recommended settings and I run other games on the highest settings without a problem.

And Left 4 Dead 2 (and 1) has a versus mode where you play as the infected and try to take down the survivors. It is actually a whole lot of fun, but you might want to hold off on trying it until you've gotten really good at the actual campaigns because the people online will not be happy if you mess up their ambush. Oh, and you'll most definitely need a mic for it.

Another good game, might I add, would be Counter-Strike: Source. It's really a lot of fun and surprisingly active despite being out for 6 years.

Go onto steam, and buy the Stalker bundle right now it's on sale. 2 games that are normally 20 bucks each usd, you can get both of them for 1 payment of 9.99 usd.

Both those games are insanely good, and get even better with the plethora of mods for one of them.

wow thats a bit of a dick move from the game developers of crysis...actually pretty clever though, makes the game seem more graphically/generally demanding.

I have a mic, having played consoles for a while. they are pretty necessary by the sound of it.

For something a little different to those which have been mentioned, RFactor or Live for Speed are both great racing sims and Civilisation is just awesome.
