I gave up on them since I was troubleshooting one of my Video cards, and had been for the last few months,

The conversation with them went like this.

"your drivers are fucked up. You need to fix them."

"We understand the problem."

2 weeks later. "AMD.Drivers.Bullshit.Fix."

One month later.

"FUCKING EH! AMD! YOUR FUCKING DRIVERS! FIX YOUR FUCKING DRIVERS!"

"We understand the problem, and our software team is hoping it can be resolved soon."

*I then proceed to hang myself with a telephone cord.*

Something about a quad-core with only 2 GB RAM offends me.

It's his budget mate. He plans on upgrading later though. It took so much self control to not totally beef the fuck out of it. I get a little carried away when I build PC's :).

I'm sure you've been there ;)

So if I don't go quad whats a decent duo processor?
The "Wolfdale" Core 2 Duos are generally considered fast and economical. You can get them in 2.66, 3.00, or 3.16 GHz versions, I think.

No motherboard problem. I'm fairly sure that the board I chose supports Sli. Lemme double check.

The E4600 Aries pointed you at is a fine choice. I helped a friend build a rig with an E4500 a while back and it runs anything on the market. Another option would be the E8200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037
It will run games faster than the Q6600 due to it's higher clock speed and updated architecture. It will suck less power as well which might be an issue with a PSU that small.

Alright, I concede. The board I chose isn't showing Sli support. No problem, I've found another board within 15 dollars of the old one that DOES support SLI.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131142

Also, reep is right. I'm not sure a 420w will handle a quad the best...The 550 or the 580 I showed you above should suffice though, if your willing to shell out a little more cash. And while games will run faster on Duos now, in the future they are going to be more optomized for quads, and will run better on them.

Alright so processors is good and works well, PSU will be updated ram will be added the box is good, And i'll steal my network card from this computer.

EDIT: So 8800 GT, with the motherboard aries just suggested would work?

But then you need to use a lousy Nvidia chipset. I've had better experiences with goddamn VIA boards than Nvidia ones. *shrugs*

Let me clarify it for you bullet. The motherboard I showed you originally will work fine with the video card. However, you will NOT be able to add a second video card in later. The second motherboard I just now posted, WILL allow you to do that.

I've never had any problems with Nvidia. The rig I'm typing on right now is using their 780i chipset. *shrug*.

I guess mileage may vary.

Video card, the simple fact is that nothing Nvidia has for under 300$ can compete with the ATI Radeon 4850 I linked to earlier. It is simply the fastest card under 300$ and also the best value on the market right now.

Aries doesn't like ATI for his reasons and I'll admit that you will be pretty happy with the 8800GTS 512mb, however the 4850 is the same price and is a good deal faster. ATI drivers are also every bit as good as Nvidia's and have been for at least five years.

Take your pick.

As to the network card, Intel boards have a pretty high quality one integrated so a discrete card won't be neccessisary.

Alright, Going to look at that 4850. If I get a 4850 would I need a different board?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127359 - This is the graphic card right?

EDIT: I'm liking the Radeon card that works with the intel board and my duo proccessor right? And will I be able to add two?

All the boards mentioned so far will be fine. Any board with a PCIe 16x slot will work and you would be hard pressed to find one that didn't have at least one of the things.

Yep, thats the card.

Aside (i.e. don't worry about this, person who is building a PC that will only run Windows):

... Only on Windows, as far as I'm aware. ATI Linux support is still less-than-stellar.

Yeah, I know. We were talking about a gaming rig so I didn't think that linux drivers were relevant.

Alright the ATI card is good everythings great, Now its time for me to get the parts. Little check on Newegg somebody says the ATI card uses a quite a bit of power from the PSU. If i'm still going on with a 420watt PSU will this all still work or will I need to upgrade that NOW? Or can it be put off until I get another graphics card?

My two cents: Current-generation programs do not play nice with multiprocessing. A higher clock frequency would be more noticeable in situations, such as playing a game, than more processors. I would suggest a faster dual-core processor over the slower quad-core processor.
