Hey all, so here's the thing. I just downloaded steam because I really want to play Amnesia: the Dark descent. But the thing is I only have a laptop I could use to play it. I've checked Can You Run it, and that said I could play Amnesia fine, but I don't know how reliable that is, so I'm hoping some technical marvel at the Escapist can help me out and tell me if my Laptop is good enough to run some descent games.

System Info:

Acer Aspire Laptop
AMD Athlon II X2 processor
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Graphics
Up to 1405MB Hyper Memory
3 GB DDR3 memory
250 GB HDD

As you can probably tell, I'm hopeless with this shit, just typed all of that off the sticker on my laptop, not a clue what it means!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your GPU is pretty low end but I think you'll be able to run it on low.

Good to hear, really excited to play this game.
Just another quick question, is Can you run it reliable? It's saying I should be Ok for most PC games that I want to check out.

In my experience, it hasn't been very reliable. Just check the system specs and check them against your own.

Yeah, this. Can You Run It? is good for a rough idea, but not especially reliable. Best comparing the game's minimum specs against that of your computer.

A game's minimum specifications are just that. When they say you have the minimum to run the game they'll mean the game will run at the lowest resolution and lowest settings at about 20 Frames Per Second, which isn't great, you'll want at least 30 FPS if you want it to be playable.

Your laptop will run Amnesia just fine, but don't expect it to run many modern big-budget games like CoD or Bulletstorm. I have an Acer Aspire myself which is more powerful in pretty much every aspect compared to yours, and it'll run TF2 and Left 4 Dead or MW2 on low settings, but newer releases like Homefront don't run.

Thanks for the help, I tried the Amnesia Demo, it's a little jumpy, but I think it will be playable once I have a look through all the settings.
As for big budget games and such, got my PS3 to take care of those, really just want to try out some of the indie games on my laptop!
