PC gaming rant from my experience

I honestly can't believe that out of all the platforms of gaming I have utilized, PC gaming has given me the most headaches in the shortest amount of time, figuratively and literally. To me, playing PC games is like trying to teach myself how to touch type or use a GH controller: mind- and finger numbing experiences that as a result, get me laughed at by anyone that sees me flounder about trying to control myself in either endeavour, and despite spending years with the tools needed to accomplish the tasks, I still suck. Sure, I can control third-person RPGs with ease because I've spent a lot of time playing them. But when I play first and third person shooters I can barely control my mouse, my fingers forget where WASD are and I can't help but press Q and C (on many FPS's, throw grenade and crouch, respectively) and mess everything up.

Then theere are the PC gaming peripherals I cannot get adjusted to, despite long-time PC gamers recommending them if one is serious about this platform, which I am and my PC is designed for it. Gaming keyboard/mouse combo with macro keys on both? Can't remember which command is macroed where and I mess up. Decent headset? My voice sounds geeky and gay over the microphone, plus I have the social skills of week-old roadkill, which means talking is out of the question.

And to continue on my FPS rant, I am getting physically sick from playing PC FPS games. This has never happened to me when I played console FPS games, so why now? I feel nauseous and I get a slight headache 30 minutes in, and an hour later, I'm on m bed trying to get my bearings straight. To finish this mini-rant, is there really a point in me continuing this hobby if I can't have fun without getting sick or frustrated?

Hmm, never really though of how hard it might be to get used to PC controls. I've been playing on PC since, well, Quake. PC really has way more options than consoles so (hell, my mouse alone has 17 buttons on it), and I prefer it to consoles for FPS games to the point where the only ones I don't get on PC are PS3-exclusives. As for consoles, I can't aim for shit with analog sticks, so keyboard and mouse are way better for me.

As a side note, how the fuck do I type the first word?:

A bit offtopic but: Am I the only one to never get one of those?

if you are getting sick from it, probably see if you can adjust the field of view. If not (like in Modern Whorefare 2) then I guess you will have to adapt. Adapting is an integral part of PC gaming. Hence why most of us (not saying all, in fact Im still learning) know our shit

Nope -- I don't get them either! :D

On topic: You're just not used to PC controls. Simple as. You can go out of your way to hook up an Xbox360 controller or some other controller to your PC.

I'm quite the opposite. I cannot get used to analog sticks :p

So... why not just use a console?

I mean if that's what works for you...

If controls are your problem, plug in a 360 pad?

You might just not be adapted to the dynamics of PC games.
For someone like me who is a Dedicated PC gamer with two Alienware systems At her disposal and at least having used at least 5 custom gaming rigs, PC gaming is my main dedication.
Will you marry me?

Sorry, I've been feeling far to straight recently.
I'm only interested in your GPU really.

And you've answered your own question, I'm afraid.

The only way to get good at something is to do it while you're still not good. The problem you're running into is that it's harder to tolerate being not good at Thing A when you're quite good at Thing B, and the two seem pretty similar.

Take the world's best guitar player and put them at a piano. It doesn't matter how much music they know, they're going to struggle like a beginner... but they're probably not going to enjoy going back to playing "Hot Cross Buns" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" to get used to it.

The point: Not all of your knowledge transfers, particularly muscle memory. Our brains are very smart and can learn things the first time, but we all have stupid fingers. They've got to be told a million times before they get it. Be patient with yourself and with the controls.

Why do you press enter after nearly every sentence? Why do you advocate Alienware as a serious PC gamer? But who am I to judge really, I guess.

OT: I'm sorry to hear of your problems OP. While I don't personally have any of these issues and by far prefer PC gaming, but to each their own. Maybe the platform just isn't for you. It is for me.
