Right, so, some games on my PC have started running slow for no reason, games that just last week, ran perfectly fine. The 2 games in question (or rather, the only ones I've noticed it with so far) here are Battlefield 3 and Metro 2033. I first noticed it with Metro 2033 on Friday night. I only just got the game on Friday and had a quick play of it (settings were maxed out) and it was running fine, but I had a wedding to go to so I never got to chance to play it long. Now, when I came home later at night I went to play it a bit more but when I went on it was running ridiculously bad, even though earlier that day it was running perfect.

Now tonight, I haven't played Battlefield for about a week, so seeing as the double exp event is on just now I decided to have a few rounds and it's doing the exact same thing with Battlefield (though not as bad as it was with Metro). This is another game, that just not long ago, was running perfectly fine.

My specs are:

8GB RAM
Intel Core i7-2600K CPU 3.40GHz
GeForce GTX 560 Ti
DirectX 11
Windows 7 64-bit
500 GB HDD (yeah I know I need a new one)

Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? And what I could do to sort it because it's really bugging me.

EDIT: Never mind, the problem seems to be sorted.

I'm not an expert unfortunately but there are a few things that come to mind:
A) This is probably not it because you are talking about a 10 hour window or something but still. Dust clogging up your ventilators and shit can really affect your performance. Clean out your pc. It did wonders for mine

B)Advanced system care. It's like crap cleaner but a bit better. If you're experiencing a software problem of some kind. This program also does wonders (most of the time). It's a little bit of everything rolled into one. Does maintenance on your hard drives/registry/viruses/spyware the works. It can help you to prevent every program on your computer from booting every startup. The basic version is freeware and it can already do a LOT.
<link=http://www.evonsoft.com/advanced-crap-cleaner-upgrade.htm>here is a link.

C) Make sure you didn't put your performance of your computer on energy saving. I don't know how familiar you are with computers but it happened to my gf like 4 times =.=

If those two don't work then do what I do. Call tech support :p (for me that is my brother).

captcha: which one is hardest?

EDIT: I did not seem to read your edit o_O

Problem might be solved but just need to add: Never do maintenance on or use tools which 'fix' your registry. Unless you know what you're doing DO NOT mess with it.

What do you mean by running bad exactly? Are you having framerate drops and laggy/juttering screens.
How old is the PC/ how long has it been in the current hardware configuration?

Id say with the info you posted its pointing to either a overheating issue or a virus

In addition to doing an extensive celanup and checking for viruses you could do a simple thing and check your power options. I've had a similar problem when high-end well-maintained PC stopped performing well in games simply because power options defaulted to Balanced plan.

Likely the computer is infected and the problem didn't sort itself as all, it's just inactive right now.
