I know this isn't a tech help forum and I apologise for putting this here, but I know nowhere else to go!

Hopefully someone here will know of my problem and be able to help me, so here it is!

I've had my PC for almost 2 years, I also have a Microsoft LifeCam which I've had pretty much the whole time I've had the PC and they have worked fine together.

Around November time last year I had to do a system restore on my PC, since then the LifeCam gives me a dreaded Blue Screen of death whenever I go to use it on MSN, Skype or Facebook, but it does work with it's LifeCam program (that just lets me view what the cam sees)

I've installed the drivers for the cam that came with the CD. I've installed the updated drivers from Microsoft themselves. I've installed my Graphics drivers and also updated those too with the latest ones. But I still have the same problem.

I have tried the camera you can get for the Xbox 360, it ended in the same result.

Every time I get the Blue Screen there is one "Error file" if you will, and that is NV4_Mini.sys

I'm not sure what this file is or what it does, my only assumption is that it has something to do with nVidia (Which is the make of both my graphics cards)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you Escapists.

Demontron.

Here's a question... have you completely uninstalled your graphics drivers, rebooted, and then reinstalled them? Because I'd say this is definitely a problem with your nVidia card and/or drivers.

I haven't tried uninstalling my graphics drivers completely. How would I go about doing that?

You'll find your nVidia drivers listed in your Add/Remove programs listing just like any other program. You should have the option to uninstall them. Be sure to have the most current drivers downloaded already so that you can run them after the reboot.

Awesome, glad it worked. But, uh... could we just keep it to a handshake and maybe a manly pat on the butt back?

What likely happened was that one of the required files for the graphics drivers was corrupted during the system restore. Just reinstalling the drivers might not overwrite that file- some installers only check to see if a file is present; if so, it won't overwrite. Removing the files completely via uninstalling will most often do the trick.
